I know I haven’t had contact with you in... A while. However, I doubt that I could have feasibly made it this long without a lot of what you taught me. Sure, I taught myself my skills, but you were the one who taught me perseverance. It’s rough to keep going sometimes, but we’ve all felt like that sometimes. Occasionally I want to... Lay down, and just give up. It feels like I’ve lost almost everything.
You know, I promised myself I wouldn’t get attached to anyone, or risk it... But I think I may have failed that. I’m not sure, though. You know it’s difficult for me to admit how I feel to anyone... Yet he seems to do it sorta easily. I’m.. Not sure. I dunno. I’ll update you more.. Later.

I write this on the cusp of a new discovery.
I have been thinking a while of the difficulties with astronomical distances. If we truly wish to see if life exists in other systems, the distances are far too vast to have a chance of discovering them. If we are to bridge the gap, we must find another way.
I believe the key to bridging that gap lies within the mind itself. My research has led me to a new possibility: that sentient creatures can communicate across long distances through the mind. The key... the key is not something you'd expect. I shall not disclose it here, this is far too insecure a venue to reveal such a crucial component of my research. You will have to wait until the paper is written, or the press release is published.
But I will say this. A future is coming in which we will no longer have to fear the nightmares that await us beyond this world. We will see them face to face, and know their minds as well as we know our own. This flame of knowledge will not be snuffed out. We too will reach to the stars...
