more books to read
So I swear I’m still working on the night and day epilogue... but I stepped away from writing for ten seconds to read a book and i ended up wanting to read all the author’s books so here we are lol.
I know i just made a whole list of wlw book recs but you know what I’m gonna make another one because holy shit... i read a fair number of books and a lot of them are wlw ones, but I don’t know that I’ve ever run into an author who consistently writes such great stories.
So first I read Breaking Legacies by Zoe Reed, who’s on tumblr @mezoereed, and it is fucking awesome. It’s a fantasy book about a hunter hired to find a princess and it’s epic, it’s what I wanted Of Fire and Stars to be. I was like holy shit so good, so I ended up reading Interference, which is an entirely different kind of story (a modern set book about a couple of roller hockey players in Southern California who fall in love) but is just as awesome. And then I read her unpublished fic Charon Docks at Daylight which is now one of my favorite stories ever, which is also entirely different from the other two (the zombie apocalypse strikes and two girls who used to know each other before everything went to hell meet back up again... it does not go as either of them planned). I’ve lost hours of sleep reading it, and cannot believe it’s not published in a world where fucking Twilight sells millions of copies. (eyes rolling now)
I mean I could ramble on and on about the great world building and the fully formed, amazing characters and the well-written kickass action and the well developed love stories, but you really should go see for yourself. Long story short read everything she’s written because it’s all awesome. (okay, I guess I can’t say for sure because I haven’t read all of it... there’s a werewolf series that I haven’t had a chance to read yet because time is a thing that exists, as are work and, you know, sleep).
Although I will just say that one of my favorite things about all these stories is that the conflicts in them feel real, the characters feel real. Too often in any story where romance is involved, the characters look at each other and are in love instantly. Or the author makes up fifteen million stupid problems to block them that could just be solved by talking (or uses some stupid trope like cheating). She never resorts to that. Her characters fall in love gradually and realistically, and when they have conflicts they make perfect sense for the characters and the story.
She has a patreon (which I will shamelessly promote because I think good writers deserve to be able to supported), and writes continuations and AUs of her stories which are also great (the fact that interesting AUs can be written from her characters should tell you something). Anyway I don’t want to sound like I’m fangirling too badly (too late) so I’ll stop now. Go read them goooo do it. (also thanks to @amazoniankryptonian for writing the post that pushed me to finally buy and read Breaking Legacies)
‘Right,’ Coldicott said, after much paper-shuffling. ‘So, you’re the Young Edwardian version.’
The Doctor looked up, but only briefly. ‘I can’t help feeling you people know far too much,’ he said. ‘You’re so casual about things these days. There really is only one of me, you know.’
‘Then how come we keep having to print up new ID cards for you?’
‘I’m deliberately sabotaging the bureaucratic process. That’s the whole point of regeneration. Didn’t you know?’

Racism In Australia: Tribulations Of A Former African Diplomat
The Tribulations Of An African Diplomat In Australia: Part 1
I arrived in Canberra City, Australia in 2006 on a diplomatic posting from Nairobi, Kenya. A number of incidents happened in a very short span of time in the course of my tour of duty. Most of which have completely and irreparably changed my perception of Australia as a developed country. My predicament while serving as a diplomat in Australia revolves around interference, collusion, and…
