How I perceive Flip Zimmerman
My intake on this character. Flip seems to be a very respectful and very praised officer in the Colorado Springs Police Department. As a detective something tells me that he’s been in the business a few years and is possibly in his late 20s-maybe early to mid 30s. From what I could tell he’s not married and is either single or maybe has a girlfriend (he just never brings her up) he seems to be content with other people of color and respects the situation even if it means life or death. As he said it’s a brotherhood—they are family.
He becomes more excepting of his Jewish heritage as we see he thinks more about it now that he’s involved in this investigation than he ever did growing up. So that tells me this investigation affected him just as much as it affected Ron. I want to say that I never saw a moment where Flip feels the white race was more superior than the other. What I went away with by the of the film is he has a good friendship with Ron and the same can be said for the other fellow officers.
