(via (5) Savvy Reasons To Rent Rather Than Buy A Home)
A day does not go by where the term “downsizing” is not heard in our industry. Even if someone is not looking to move from a larger abode, to a smaller one, in the near future, many are tossing around the idea. What is refreshing to us is that it’s not just us “older baby boomers” pondering living larger in smaller homes. We’ve got some pretty savvy younger groups who say why wait?
What if we never “upsized” our homes and therefore didn’t need to “downsize”? We know just a group who has this figured out. We are always excited to be asked to help them develop a plan to make their homes the perfect LBD for them!

Wardrobe ideas to get you organised
It won’t be long until spring is in the air and for those of us who love our clothes- shopping trips are on the cards!
Great! But there’s little point in even thinking about your new wardrobe unless you A-Know exactly what you’ve got and B- Have some where to put it!
So now is a perfect time to think about a real purge- Remember this is to make room for more stuff!
Even if you don’t have the luxury of a dressing room or walk in wardrobe- and few of us do- there’s no point in having an over stuffed cupboard where you can’t see what you've got .
So here are my personal top tips that may help
1 Take your time – set a side a couple of evenings or a weekend for your clear out to edit and review your wardrobe and to get rid of everything you don’t need.
2 Start by sorting your clothes into three categories: “Throw Away,” “Give Away” and “Keep.”
3 Remember – the purpose of this is to what you’re trying to do is “Make space to take in new ideasand items "
If you haven’t worn it for 2years, get rid of it !!!
If you really don’t have enough space divide your clothes seasonally and put away your out of season clothes, so you’ve more room for this season’s.
4 Now it’s time to restructure and reorganize your wardrobe/cupboards
5 Get rid of all those wire hangers and use all the same hangers. This makes a huge difference .
6 Organize your wardrobe into sections – shirts with shirts, trousers with trousers, jumpers with jumpers. This creates uniformity and makes things easy to find.
If you have a separate work wardrobe , put all these items together. You want to think about the functionality of it and what works best for you
7 Colour-coding each section from light to dark not only creates great visual appeal, but also allows you to put together outfits quickly based on colours and hues.
8 If you've got space, use shelf dividers to help create more customisation and organization in your closet. This offers a great space to store sweaters, scarves and blankets by dividing each section
Accessories
The little odds and ends, such as jewellery, tights, scarves etc or men’s ties and cuff links need a home as well so make sure they are visible and you can see exactly what you've got
Men’s ties can be stored on a tie rack.
Remember everything has its place and you don’t want to misplace items or add unnecessary clutter
Shoe organization
Shoe shelves are a more practical way to store your beloved footwear than boxes.
If you've a walk-in wardrobe slanted shoe shelves are ideal for women’s shoes, while larger and bulkier men’s shoes can be placed on flat shelves.
For a conventional wardrobe, it’s best to have shoe shelves on the floor under the long hanging bar, or a hanging canvas shoe rack, so you can see all your shoes at once..
Clearing your wardrobe of unnecessary clutter not only affects your wardrobe , but yourself, creating a stress free environment to turn to in the morning as well as making you more efficient and creative when it comes to selecting your clothes.
Below are images of storage solutions that you may find inspirational-Remember, the more space the more room for new things !!!
