Four Free Fantastic Android Games: Volume 2
This month’s Four Free Fantastic Android Games will feature some quirky games. They each have completely different gameplay elements, from using tilt-to-move controls to move a flying cat to using actual rolling dice as role playing game characters. The four games for this month are: Dice Heroes, Intern Saga: Trademark Lawyer, Jetpack Cat, and Sausage Royale.

Dice Heroes
Over the years there have been many turn based role playing games for android devices, all taking their own spin on things, but as far as I know this is the first turn based “roll” playing game (sorry for the pun!). Instead of having regular characters that you use to fight enemies you actually control a set of dice.
Each die has six sides of either attack or defense, which you get to customize as you go. Every battle you face with your dice is completely unique with the outcome of your moves changing based on what you have assigned to each side of your die. At the beginning of each turn you can roll your die in different directions in order to defeat enemy die, with each roll being completely random just as a dice roll should be.
There are around 30 levels in the game, with each being harder than the last; 4 different classes of die that you gain from getting through different levels; and a unique leveling and skill system. The only downfall to this game is that there are some in-game purchases, but luckily none of them are needed to enjoy this game to its full extent. It’s easy to dive in to and fun, yet challenging. So what are you waiting for! It’s free after all!
Intern Saga: Trademark Lawyer
When games like Flappy Bird, Angry Birds, and Candy Crush are copied by other people and put in the app store under different a different name, it’s up to Trademark Lawyers of these companies to do something about it! Your goal in Intern Saga: Trademark Lawyer is to look around the in-game app store for games with trademarked words in them, and eventually pay off your student loans.
The quirkiness of this game comes from its text, whether it be from the in-game emails from your boss and clients or the descriptions of the games you’ll be taking down. It’s not difficult to play at all, and there’s even a notes section in your in-game phone which keeps track of all the trademarks you should be looking out for. The amount of text in the game is astounding considering this is a free android game with absolutely no in-app purchases. This is the second Android game from developer “The Men Who Wear Many Hats”, with their first being the very successful “Organ Trail”. Although it’s been a while since their last game on Android, Intern Saga: Trademark Lawyer stands up as a very humorous and fun look at the life of trademark lawyer, despite the real life job not being very fun at all. The only downfall this game suffers is the fact that the in-game phone occasionally glitches out, but not in a game breaking way. So if you’ve ever wanted to be a lawyer, but without the boring parts, try it out!
Jetpack Cat
Jetpack Cat is essentially a Space Invaders clone but with a little bit of a twist, adding a few different power ups and mini-bosses! With this being the first game developed by “Make or Break Studios” there are a few in-app purchases, none of which are needed, but are mostly just there as a means to support the up and coming developers.
Gameplay isn’t too complicated. It features tilt based movement and touch to shoot controls, making it easy to pick up for just about anyone. You earn points by killing the six different types of flying enemies and picking up crystal shards that explode from them. With these you can purchase lots of different upgrades for Jetpack Cat and even extra lives. Thanks to the fact this is the developer’s first game it will be receiving lots of support as well as changes based on community feedback.
For those who love retro arcade shooters, this is perfect the perfect game for you. It feels reminiscent of games you’d pay a quarter to play with your buds at the arcade, but with a new school art direction.
Sausage Royale
If you’ve ever played the game “Bop It!” as child, this game is basically that but on Android. It’s the most fun you’ll ever have stroking and flipping a sausage with your friends! There aren’t many multiplayer games on the Play Store that require only one phone to play, but you can get up to four people in on the action of Sausage Royale on one phone. You can either play on your own or with others in two different game modes: Battle or Co-op. In Battle you’ll see who can last the longest by following the instructions the sausage gives you and in Co-op you’ll work with your team to see how long you can follow the instructions for. Each time you go through a round in Sausage Royale the game will speed up, until it’s practically impossible to keep up. It may sound extremely silly, but it makes up for it in fun. The game is best played with others, but it can still be fun if you’re playing on your own. If I had to compare it to another game on the Android market I’d compare it to “Dumb Ways to Die”. If you’re looking for a multiplayer game to play this is definitely one of the best out there on the Play store.
