Why do some people feel more like "home" than others?
Is it true that we are away from our actual home? That we are immortal spiritual beings existing in this space time reality having a temporary human experience and there must be a reason for our existence - A mission to be accomplished or a purpose to be fulfilled.
On our journey, we come across different people-some are there for a day, some for a few months and some for a lifetime.
But one thing that I can’t help but wonder is that why do some people feel more like home than others?
There are people who are no less than sunshine, being around them feels like we are centred, peaceful and eternally safe. Taking off the extra layers to appear perfect and being our true self seems easy and natural. There’s an instant connection, a feeling of closeness, familiarity, a feeling of something, something that tells us that we have known them for a very, very long time. All in all, life feels magical and amazing.
But life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows is it?!
I’m sure we have all had our share of toxic people and we’re well aware of how draining it is to be around them.
Everything seems like a struggle, or more like a curse. Life seems meaningless and we feel stuck, in every possible way. They bring out the worst in us and we become miserable, miserable to the extent that we let our dark side take over. Miserable to the extent that we unleash the monster within, the monster that we didn’t even know existed.
They tear down our walls, rip our hearts apart and make us feel so wretched, hopeless and helpless that we hit rock bottom.
Now that’s the role that they play in our lives. And that’s a very important role.
We hit rock bottom and we feel like life has no purpose, that it’s all about pain and suffering. Then one day, we stop crying and decide it’s time to stop dwelling and get out of the “rock bottom residence” and there’s only one way we can go from there- up. We realise we have no choice but to rise up and transform ourselves and become the best version of ourselves. We realise that we need to grow, to take a different path and to get out of our comfort zones and that’s how the magic happens. That’s where miracles happen.
That’s when we meet people who feel like home. We come across them once we are ready for them. They feel like a gift from the universe, a reward for being brave, despite our fears, for acknowledging our destiny and for taking the path of transformation. These are the people who feel like home and there’s nothing better than coming home after a long, hard, exhausting day.
