the problem is that as our society keeps telling us that we’re nothing, that our lives are nothing and useless without romantic love, when someone tells me « don’t worry you’ll fall in love eventually ! » i want it to be true more than everything

ever since my asexual friend told me 5 years ago, "I think you're aromantic", it's like something inside of me clicked into place (altho I didn't have a bigger revelation till years later sadly, rip to those failed romantic relationships I tried to force myself into) And it's not until recently that I've grown more and more anxious & SAD about being aromantic.. I know that that is me, but sometimes I think I don't want to be that anymore or 'what if I'm faking it?' Do you know any self-aro-love?
Sadly, there's no magic bullet when it comes to thoughts like this. However, I would draw your attention to the fact that people who are faking something know they're faking; they're lying about something to a purpose. Fakers never worry they're faking.
My best suggestion is to surround yourself with content that is aro positive. Follow some aro blogs, and try and create a space where you aren't exposed to that negativity.
This is a hard thing to deal with, and I wish you the best of luck anon.
Heyo, aromantic asexual here, whos having a lot of trouble accepting it. I really wish i could feel emotions like everyone else, but i know i cant. I've forced myself into several relationships these past few years hoping for some sort of change, but its not working and i know it wont work, yet i still try. I guess im still in the denial phase, and im not sure how to move on to the acceptance phase, even though i really want to. Im tired of feeling this bad all the time. Thanks for listening:)
I'm glad I could provide a listening ear, anon.
I know it's really hard, coming to terms with being different from other people. I'm sure you know this, but forcing yourself into relationships isn't the answer - it'll end in pain on all sides. I wish I could offer a shortcut, but all I can offer is reassurance; it's OK to be the way you are. You're loved and accepted here on this blog and in the aro community, and I hope that in time you can find that acceptance for yourself.
Be kind to yourself. 💚💚💚💚
