Are you guys excited about Tumblr potentially joining the Fediverse? 👀 I know I am!👇
https://www.howtogeek.com/850954/tumblr-and-flickr-might-join-mastodons-fediverse-network/
And if you have absolutely no sweet clue what the Fediverse even is, now is the time to learn about it because it’s the new Internet 2.0!
So what does it mean if Tumblr joins the Fediverse?
It means that we will be part of a very interconnected space with thousands and thousands of independently run platforms that are completely outside of the Tumblr platform. Potentially, we will be able to follow, interact with other users, and support our favorite content creators across various platforms in the Fediverse without having to be part of those platforms if we don’t want to be. And Vice Versa, they will be able to follow and interact with those of us on Tumblr without having to be on the Tumblr platform themselves. How cool is that?!
As we get closer to the elections, all the Karens and worthless white people who are over 50 and don’t understand how badly America needs social reform, all the middle age suburbanites who think a facemask is some form of slavery, all the hardcore “gun rights advocates” who own an armory of firepower but blanche when any POC owns so much as a facial expression... they come out in droves on Facebook, battlecrying the Republic of Ardent Stupidity, replying in the most softball pitch nonsense I’ve ever seen.
And to those exact people, I’ve been over using this great GIF set of Cy Toliver from Deadwood as my reply. And it works for everything. Read each of the following statements, then glance at the animated reply above.
“Trump is a great leader, how dare you say that about him!”
“I don’t have to wear a mask because of my civil rights as a human being in the US of A and how dare you suggest otherwise!”
“Its my FREEDOM OF SPEECH that lets me REPLY on your FACEBOOK thread.”
“All lives matter!”
“Not all white people owned slaves!”
And so on and on until the end of time.
Thinking again about that person who scoffed when I called a promotional post for a newly released book an advertisement.
The post contained professional cover art and a sales pitch written by the author explaining in detail why people should buy the book.
But this person was like “LMAO that’s not an ad that’s just a blog post.”
Can’t stop thinking about it.
.
See, the thing is I understand why a young person would scoff and say “that’s not a real ad.”
I understand why kids who grew up marinating in the toxic influencer culture of the modern, platform-controlled, hyper commercialized internet might think an advertisement only counts as a “real” advertisement if it’s paid for by a megacorporation.
But I do not, cannot, will not agree.
I’m old enough to remember what it was like growing up on the pre-monetized internet. I’m old enough to remember what it was like when online social interactions were actually social interactions and not monetary transactions.
Apple and Google and Facebook have done a very good job of convincing the younger generation that it is normal and acceptable to monetize every aspect of every online social interaction, and that it is normal and healthy to transform every creative hobby into a side gig, to view every blog post you make as a way to “build your brand.” They’ve done a very good job convincing you that it is normal for absolutely everyone around you to constantly be trying to sell you something.
But it is not normal. It is aberrant. It is fucked up.
To people who remember what the internet was like before, saying “that’s not a real ad” just because the ad was a self-promotion and the advertising budget was relatively small is like saying “that’s not a real school shooting” because only a couple children got grazed by the spray of bullets and they barely even needed stitches.
Nothing about the culture we currently live in is normal.
In fact, the culture we live in is fundamentally unsustainable.
If anyone wants to know my secret, it's because I went through a phase a few years ago where I reviewed the bathrooms of every restaurant I went to.
i desperately miss when a single book could explain wtf was going on on here
Klaus Schwab, warning of the next ‘pandemic’, a cyber attack so vast it disconnects the internet. The new internet will only be accessible to those with biometric digital ID. Almost as if this is a plan.
This man, his ilk and organization need to be culled, he and his globalist organization is a direct threat to humanity.
