As for the cox lawsuit, nothing much has happened so far
just the justices arguing about both sides
The ruling shouldn’t be here until June 2026
U.S. Supreme Court justices grappled with a bid by Cox Communications to avoid financial liability in a major music copyright lawsuit.
But a summary of events is that the judges are skeptical of both sides and see both sides as an extreme
The judges argued that Cox was being too lax with user infringement.
They also suggested that since Cox knew someone was pirating something on their internet, they should be responsible first stopping it, since they knew what the person was doing
(They used a “if you sell someone a weapon and they tell you they will use that weapon to hurt people, therefor you are responsible for it” as an analogy)
They did question the labels on the liability argument
A General Malcom Stewart, argued for Cox and noted the scenario of taking down an entire building of internet just for one person
