i’m back
I’m finally back! Not that anyone noticed I was gone, lol. I haven’t had a working laptop in almost 3 years, and I just got one for Christmas. Looking forward to actually interacting on this site instead of just lurking. I’ve been watching the whole drama going on with iOS censorship and as always, I am quite happy that I do not use Apple products. For certain things, I’m sure they are superior. But I have no need for those things, and I prefer technology that has a generally lower level of bullshit on a daily basis. Looking forward to picking up where I left off with other things as well, like photos and recipes. God, I sound like a 50 year old woman. Ugh. Well, I was in college when Facebook first launched, so I may as well be 100.
It’s strange to me how much has changed since I first started using the internet. AOL instant messenger was EVERYTHING, now I’m pretty sure it doesn’t exist. Among other things. I know I’m going to miss all my Flash games that I used to play. I did manage to find a site that has my old favorite DOS games. God, there I go dating myself again. I will say this: I look at my nieces and nephews, I see what they are going through in middle school and high school. I thank God every single day that social media was not a thing when I was their age. The biggest drama we ever had was who said what over instant message the previous night. I don’t even know if MySpace was a thing yet. Or, at least, I wasn’t on it. I never actually had a MySpace page. I did have a good old Angelfire site. I later had a blog, but I honestly couldn’t tell you what site it was. I had a LiveJournal later on, but this was before that. I have no idea. Point is, I’ve been around on the internet for a long time. I’ve watched trends come and go, controversies flare and fade. Mostly, I like to sit in the background rather than participate. I guess that’s why I finally wound up at Tumblr. It’s a good place to hide from the real world, something which I’m sure many of us here appreciate. Nobody looks for you in the trash heap of the internet. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. See y’all soon~
