ok internet hole updatEE!! I was writing about the word resonate, recounting a day a few weeks ago when Rosa and I were listening to this amazing song called Tinawiren that really hit me. The beats of the song were so strong they raised my vibration (and continue to do so !!). I researched the song and found out its from a mixtape called Music from Saharan Cellphones, which is quite literally made up of music from random cellphones.
“Music from Saharan cellphones is a compilation of music collected from memory cards of cellular phones in the Saharan desert. in much of West Africa, cellphones are are used as all purpose multimedia devices. In lieu of personal computers and high speed internet, the knockoff cellphones house portable music collections, playback songs on tinny built in speakers, and swap files in a very literal peer to peer Bluetooth wireless transfer.”
So this lead me to start researching West African music and I’m discovering that much of the rhythm used in West African music is/was used, traditionally, to communicate emotion, as stated on wikipedia.
I will forever be Amazed about how music reaches us, and its power to shift our energy. I think its amazing how natural music is to just, especially rhythm, because we have our own rhythm beating in our chests..
