Glass shattered. A window on the third floor had been broken. Smashed to pieces. The alarms went off, but no one was around to answer to them. After ten minutes or so, they clicked off again. Silenced.
A scythe dragged against the ground, the blade leaving marks in the floor.
It shoved open the door, heading towards the elevator. Part of it did not expect the button to work. But that did not matter.
Nearly every floor of the building was drenched in blood, the trail streaking beneath the dragging edge of the scythe. It scraped across the tiles with a hollow ring— though at this point, the mess hardly mattered.
The elevator shuddered, lurching through a few uneven jolts before grinding to a complete, reluctant halt.
