"I want to go home."
It was a simple request, but one Brian understood. It'd been a long day for you, and all you wanted was to get into bed and hide under the covers. It was the same as always, yet another appointment, but this time was centered around your intersexuality. And this time, just like most times, your doctor was insistent on being an ass. For a man insistent on treating you as nonhuman he really didn't like using it/its on you when you asked.
"I know," he sighed. "we're almost home, sweetheart. We'll slip off those shoes, plop you in front of the TV with a hot mug and the fluffiest blanket, and watch that stupid movie you like." He grinned a bit, nudging your side as he drove his beat up pickup truck, the music low as the machine groaned each time he hit a pothole. "Anything for my angel."
That grin faded as you sighed, voice soft as you fidgeted with the strings of your shorts. "It's always the same. I walk in, they talk to me like I'm not human. Not even to me, they just talk about me." You leaned back, the quiet growl of the truck around you. You were tired of that doctor, tired of those nurses, tired of the medical field.
"Honey," he started, "they're full of shit. You're perfect just the way you are, and no doctor can say otherwise. If they wanna try and change you when there's nothing fucking wrong with you then that's their fucking bullshit to deal with." He stopped at a red light, turning to face you. "I'm not kidding when I tell you you're an angel. You are kind, you are funny, you are smart, and you are perfect. I love that you're intersex because I love you."
He pulled you close, kissing your forehead before stepping on the gas. He smiled as you hummed along to the music, pushing his hair back as he pulled into your driveway, the gravel crackling under the tires. "Come on, angel, let's get inside. We still have those leftovers from last night if you wanna heat them up? Plus, I figured you'd be tired, so I may have put your blanket in the dryer."
And finally, there you two were on the couch, watching a shitty movie as you ate your noodles. They were a bit dry from the microwave, but they still tasted good as you wrapped them around a fork. Brian grinned as you leaned closer into him, wrapping the blanket further around you. He took a swig of his soda before looking over to you. "Feeling better, sweetheart?"
"...Yeah."
"I'm glad, angel."
