I keep double guessing myself like "yeah no way this is a trans metaphor surely, it can't hold the same queer context in Korean right" but THERES NO WAY FOR ME TO KNOW FOR SURE and I ASSUME its probably just a metaphor carried over from Demian (which I havent read yet) which is why I was double guessing myself BUUUUT...
My point being, I don't know how much of transfem sinclair- as much as I adore that reading- is *intentional.* It might not matter much if it isnt, as themes of growth and fear of stagnation are very parallel to transgender themes, but still. In the original korean, there's no way all these egg metaphors hold the same queer context they do in english, right? Can somebody inform me on that if they know?
Summary for those scrolling to the end: Is it just pure chance that the english translation ends up portraying Sinclair a *DEEPLY* transfeminine character, or is it part of the original intent in the original language? I'd like to know
