Interview Days 1 (contd)
Wow. What a day! This morning I woke up and got to the ballroom where interviews were to be held. The room was huge and sectioned off into three areas. The first was a large open space filled with nothing but a check in table, a table of water, and a table for current students. The back room had various tables and chair and was the main waiting area for applicants. The third? A huge vast space filled with many interview stations. It was nerve-wracking to say the least! I sat outside and did some interview prep, looking over my resume and the job descriptions as well as various notes and tips I had written along the way. Needless to say, I was jittery. After listening to music I headed into the waiting room and brought out my inner woo once again. It was time to mingle! I decided to do this to get my mind off my nerves. And suddenly, a second year masters student walked into the room and called my name.
The next couple hours were a blur. I interviewed three times in a row and felt so comfortable! I wonder if that is a testament to the friendliness of people here or if it is because I just am more comfortable with interviews than I thought. Anyways, I felt happy with my answers for the most part and went to lunch.
After eating sushi and a banana I realized that this was not the smartest choice to make. Thankfully I did not get sick and was able to write all of my thank you notes. I went back for my final interview and after mingled a bit with other applicants.
I left the student center and went back to grab my bags and got to the conference center. I thanked my host who had been so hospitable and informative and got on the shuttle to the airport. Now, I sit here in the airport with a lot on my mind but with excitement for the next two visits. The bar is set high… And I can’t wait to see what interview days 2 and 3 have in store for me!
