Hi!!!
I have an interview for grad school tomorrow and am wondering what to expect.
How nerdy should I be? Should I dress as if it’s a professional (job) interview?
Any tips appreciated!!!!

OFFICIALLY NERVOUS FOR MY INTERVIEW
T MINUS 33 MINUTES
【To-Do List】
■ 04.13.18. // (Friday)
Ok! I really need to get my shit together and start working hard the next few weeks... I need to pretend I’m back in school and just get this stuff done. I have a ton of observations at the autism place, which are going to be around a lot of new people (yikes), and I’ll have to be super professional and attentive the whole time (hard to do while literally standing/sitting there silently for hours because you’re just there to “observe”). I have a grad school interview on the 1st, which I thought I’d be way more prepared for by now but I blew off the whole month I had to prep on other stuff (moving, and personal projects). And I have a job interview probably next week or the week after (YIKES).
SO! Here’s my list of to-dos and I need to focus on doing this and just about everything else has to come last to these tasks... No more excuses!
Job related // ❏ Read/study the PDF I was sent about the job I’m interviewing for ❏ Come up with follow up Qs based on the readings ❏ Confirm date/time for interview, get info about how to get there ❏ Read interview prep books/articles ❏ Prep for interview (practice, write up answers) ❏ Print off copies of resume, etc ❏ Map/practice? getting there ❏ Plan outfit, get ready ahead of time ❏ Buy any clothes needed for outfit? ❏ Go do interview! ❏ Send follow up thank you
Observations related // ❏ Map route and plan day ❏ Check bus pass balance ❏ Plan outfit, get ready ahead of time ❏ Go to observations! ❏ Take notes and write up reports in case I need to turn one in
Grad school interview related // ❏ Read up on program again, read up on professors ❏ Re-read my SOP & application ❏ Read grad school how-to book sections on interviews ❏ Read up on latest psych news ❏ Read overview of psych book ❏ Plan outfit, get ready ahead of time ❏ Buy any clothes needed for outfit? ❏ Go do interview! ❏ Send follow up thank you
Hey, if anyone has any tips or resources you’d like to share, please let me know!! Also, where do you buy your professional looking clothes??? I’ve been scouring H&M and F21 for months, and they have some cute stuff but not a ton that appeals to me. I looked at Target last year when I had an internship interview, and bought some blouses and pants, but wasn’t that pleased with the selection... I guess I can go back again now that they’ve probably changed their stock. But still, I feel like I’m missing something? I don’t really need business clothes, because psych is more laid back and academia focused, so less black and more brown I guess, haha. I’ve been liking some stuff I’ve seen on Modcloth but have been hesitant to spend $60+ on a skirt. Especially since they’re longer than I tend to wear (I prefer a little above the knee length, but that may not be appropriate for work/interview). But at least they have high-waisted stuff... I know if I get this job my clothes will be more scrubs than business, but I need an interview outfit at least. I have some stuff but it all seems too serious. I never know how to be an adult! Any store suggestions?
I am strong. I am smart. I am genuine. I am driven. I can do this. I am good enough. I deserve this. I will succeed. I am determined. I am intelligent. I am worthy. I can absolutely do this. I do not need a script and composed, pre-packaged thoughts because this is who I am. This is what I’ve been working for all this time. I will do this.
Is my grad school interview roomie nice or made of mice? We may never know
