Prelude // Rynn x Zane

Zane’s manor, as always, was a welcoming place to her. These past ten months had all been rather pleasant for the fae, save for some unenjoyable interactions that had happened along the way. This bi-weekly routine, where she’d pick up her earnings from Zane, was always a highlight of her time.
She’d grown rather fond of the vampire king - they seemed to have a sort of kinship, a friendship. She trusted him - a rare thing for the changeling. And there he sat at his desk, waiting for her to sit down for their little catch-up.
It was a nice thing, earning wages - Zane paid quite fairly. Yet, she never could quite feel like those wages were hers. Obviously, the fae didn’t take a cut from her payment, they had their deal with Zane, and Rynn was simply on loan.
On loan. Implying ownership. But she supposed that was true, it its way. The fae still held a key piece of the puzzle of Rynn’s life, and no matter how long she worked for Zane, she was still theirs, thanks to the true name she’d traded them. At least they were the ones that had it.
A shudder overtook her has the thought of Calien having her true name entered her mind. If he had that name - well she would belong to him. No one had heard from him in weeks, even months - and yet that offered her no comfort. Something told her he wasn’t the type to simply give up, and that time only made him want her more.
Pushing that thought from her mind, Rynn took her seat in front of Zane and gave him a smile, focusing on the meeting for now. “How are you today, Zane?”
