“Dance with me.” Parker whispered, pulling the other closer to her. Music playing softly in the background, the christmas tree still up, she wasn't quite ready to let go of the festive season just yet.

Ryan sighed as he let himself collapse onto the couch, he was exhausted from trying to save as much of his apartment as he could, all of which had been shoved into boxes in the back of his car. "Thanks, I really fucking appreciate it. They swear they don't know how the fire started but it's being looked into and my insurance should cover it so I'm not out of pocket and I can pay you rent and whatever else I can cover to make it up to you, maybe like a week, just until I find a new place."

The situation was awful and Nova wished that there was more that she could do to help Ryan, but a place to stay so he didn't have to worry about hotels or rentals was something she knew she could do easily. "Don't worry about any of that, really. As long as you need, the room is all yours. Plus, I own the place so rent is not necessary. Just don't put empty milk cartons back in the fridge. My brother did that all the time."

Running into an ex was awkward at the best of times, realising that ex was now your new boss made it even more so. Flynn had known a new ER chief would be coming in at some point, a role she would have gone for herself had her personal life been a little less chaotic.

Still, when the new chief attending was introduced, she hadn’t expected it to be someone she had dated back in medical school. They hadn’t ended on the best of terms, Flynn had been the one to break things off. Now she wasn’t sure what to think, or how to approach the other. So much time had passed, she certainly wasn’t the same person she had been back then. She stood back, considering leaving the room, avoiding them for a little longer before letting out a sigh, pushing herself off the wall and walking towards the other, hoping it wouldn’t be too awkward.

"Theyll just to be happy theyre getting a grandbaby. they were starting to get pushy." Like sending random women to him in the er to meet him kind of pushy. He's reaching up rubbing the back of his head, already starting to think about all the ways their lives were about to be readjusted. "Yeah... we're doing this together." He says, his hand held out to her. "I wouldnt have it any other way."

"I think my parents will probably feel the same way." Her mother especially had been asking when she was going to have kids, her dad kept suggesting she get a dog, something she had been thinking about. Nova let out a breath, relief filling her as she took his hand. "Good. Cause the idea of doing this on my own was terrifying."

"My parents would disagree, theyre definitely going to expect me to marry you." Not that he would just out of filial obligation, but it was definitely going to be an argument when he told them. They were also not going to be very happy that she wasn't chinese but at least he was finally giving them grandchildren? He's getting up off his knee, pocketing the makeshift ring out of habit more than anything- always tucking things in his scrub pockets. "Yes." He says, no hesitation to the question. "I've always wanted kids."

"Well mine won't unless it's what we want. I think so anyway." Nova wasn't exactly excited to tell her parents, she was sure they would be excited but there was a tiny part of her that always worried about disappointing them. She smiled a little smile to herself, happy to hear that he was happy with her decision. "So, we doing this together?"

“I haven’t eaten since breakfast.” Parker admits, it was nearing midnight now and she was starving. “Let’s go get a cheeseburger or something. There has to be a drive through still open somewhere.”

“You can stay here tonight. For as long as you need.” Nova promised. She didn’t know all the details, didn’t need to as far as she was concerned, all she wanted was for the other to have somewhere safe to stay. “I’ve got a spare room, you’ll have your own space.”

Jade nodded. "Routine." Did little humans have routines? She wouldn't ask. "And here I thought I was the only one glad to see an end come to these holiday shenanigans." A lie and she knew it. Who the hell liked the added stress Christmas brought? "One grilled cheese coming up."

She just needed to wait it out, she'd get more rest eventually. "I wasn't feeling very festive this year." Usually Flynn loved the holiday, had even been excited for her daughter to have a December birthday, now the month was simply filled with a mix of emotions of two extremes.

Richard grabbed himself a cup of coffee from Parker's coffee machine as she made her order. "Truthfully I had a great time." He said as he took a swig of coffee hoping to god it would wake him up. "Seriously they have great breakfast sandwiches. I'd say the best in town but I haven't been here long enough to make that claim. Best I've had in a while though. So you shouldn't be too disappointed with it."

Ordering what she wanted, she passed Richard his phone back before sitting up on the counter and picking her own cup of coffee back up.

"I'm glad you did." She smiled. It had been nice, Parker had needed the night out, the chance to let her hair down a bit.

"How long have you been here?" Parker wasn't sure how much he'd be willing to share, maybe even that would be too much but she was was curious to know at least a little more about the man.
