INTP x ISFJ

Certainty of my type: I’m an enormous type dweeb. I’m sure.

Certainty of their type: Pretty darn sure. She fits every description and stereotype there is.

I work with this ISFJ. We have a great working relationship. She tends to be good at everything I’m bad at and I tend to be good at everything she’s bad at. I know to make sure she knows I appreciate her and she doesn’t even have to try to make me feel appreciated. I’m full of creative solutions to problems where she can manage all the technical details and people. I’m always impressed by her Si skills and she’s always grateful for my Ti powers. It’s a good dynamic.

However, it never feels like we naturally get along. I wonder if we would have the relationship we do if I wasn’t the giant type dork that I am. She’s very socially competent and nice to everyone (albeit a tad passive aggressive) but tends to be close minded (imo) and will prefer to go with the first idea before considering the alternatives (inferior Ne lol) which would annoy the crap out of me if I didn’t know any better. Sometimes I’ll forget about a small unimportant (to me) detail and she’ll get frustrated... And I can’t just tell her I’m too busy contemplating the mysteries of the universe to care about a spreadsheet with no discernible purpose. She also gets annoyed when I ask her “why” questions so I try to avoid it.

In short, INTP/ISFJ can be a beneficial working relationship for both parties if you try hard to get along. Holy hell I would never date one though.

INTP x ISFJ

Certainty of my type: Like 99% sure. I’ve taken many different tests and usually get typed as INTP. I was mistyped as ISTP but after doing a lot of research and becoming somewhat obsessed with MBTI, I realized that I fit the INTP type much better. Though I only have a slight preference for Thinking over Feeling

Certainty of her type: Fairly certain. I’ve had her take a few different tests and she’s gotten both IxFJ on all of them. I’ve also known her for a really long time and a lot of the traits of an ISFJ make total sense.

Our relationship: We have been best friends for the last nine years, since 1st grade. We’ve practically grown up together. Even after I moved away a couple years ago, we are still the best of friends.

Ever since we were kids, she’s been the more likable one with great social skills (despite her introversion) and I’ve been more of the reclusive loner. But that dynamic works very well for us. Being the popular and likable introvert that she is, all the social situations she gets herself into get extremely tiring and stressful for her. So afterwards I’m always there to calm her down and be that friend that she can talk to about how much she hates having to be so social.

Another thing is that we keep each other grounded in different ways. With her being a Feeling type, she often doesn’t apply a lot of logic in her relationships in life. So I’m there to let her know when her thoughts get a little too unrealistic. She keeps me grounded in every other aspect of life. With her being an SJ, she’s VERY organized and great with getting things done on time. When working on projects together she would always push me to see it through to the end and actually finish it. She also lets me know when I’m being too blunt or when my ideas get a little too out there.

Although we have extremely different interests and ways of going about life, we can still get along great. Sometimes she gets bored with my theories and sometimes I get annoyed with her irrational emotions but we’re able to work through any problem we have with total ease.

This girl is my best friend in the entire world and one of the best things that’s ever happened to me. Our differences bring out the best in each other that we didn’t know could be brought out.
