I got given a microKORG synthesizer/vocoder by Jon Brion while we were recording in LA with Jim Scott. He came out & did a couple of overdubs & he gave it to me & I put it to work straight away on that song. It helped us to see it into a different sonic landscape - Neil Finn
A lot of Frenz have criticized Neil's use of the vocoder on this song - some people went so far as to say they hated the instrument. This got me wondering if they hated all other pop artist's use of the instrument? It has a long history in pop music.
