LANGDON over there? rumor has it, they’re one of those SUMMER BIRDS, originally from MANCHESTER, ENGLAND. i’ve heard they’re pretty INDEPENDENT , it’s just too bad they’re also CYNICAL. they remind me of CHAIN SMOKING AND DRINKING A BEER FOR BREAKFAST, WEARING SUNGLASSES INDOORS OR EVEN WHEN IT’s CLOUDY, LINING UP HIS PRESCRIPTION BOTTLES JUST TO PLAY DOMINOS WITH THEM. –– ( j, 21, gmt-5, she/her )

ok so i just got home from work bc the subway literally stood still but here i am, presenting you with chet !! and yes his name was inspired by chet baker but shhhh,,, also if you want to plot, pls leave a like ! (ps, i’ve missed a lot of details, but i feel like this is excessive, so i apologize in advance)

so about chet:

he was born in manchester (where bands like oasis and the smiths were formed) as a result of a messy of a one-night stand, sometime in 1973

his parents weren’t dating, nor were they even friends— they just met after a music festival and hit it off and then yeah chet happened

dad wasn’t there for the birth, mom gave him away as soon as possible to her sister aka chet’s aunt? she was a recent divorcee and a very troubled soul, causing her to drink a bit too much every night

she tried to love him, she did, but the alcohol got the better of her and he was often met with her rage instead of the love he had wanted??? eventually causing his own troubled soul, but let’s save that for later, yeah? 

he started drinking when he was 13, stealing from his aunt’s cabinet of goods; he often sold it too, to kids curious at the time and soon, he was the cool kid; all he ever wanted was to be the cool kid, someone the others looked up to

however, when high school hit, he was becoming greedy and wanted more— he wanted kids to be afraid of him and soon he was the leader of the delinquents; stealing money was the least he could do, honestly

but one day, he’s had enough— he’s had enough of his aunt’s slurring, resulting in verbal and emotional abuse; enough of the school system, enough of this life; and he ran away at the age of 18 with the wad of cash hidden under his bed, stealing a van to live on the road

one month in, he meets a girl and fell in love immediately, for he thought that she was just like him, that she understood him

she, too, was running away from the life she was living and did not hesitate to join him and his van— they soon began a drug and sex-filled journey to wherever their hearts lead them to; but something was missing: love

they say it was love because they were young and did not know any better— they thought that all their arguing, all their hateful words, were out of love, but we all know it’s not (tl;dr toxic relatonship)

one year in, they stop at an unfamiliar area, captivated by the beauty of its nature— erith springs !

they’ve had enough of each other and after a very intense and emotional argument, she leaves him to godknowswhere and once again, he’s alone with his van, angrier and sadder than ever

he’s actually a big softie inside, just really insecure and hates people bc he knows that all they’re going to do is hurt him and break his heart; but he would do anything for the people he holds dear to his heart

( tw: mental illness) he’s unaware of it yet but he does suffer from depression and a friend of his from the streets got him something that would “make him feel better”, stuffed in prescription bottles

about drumming:

so something chet loved to do, other than his usual stealing, bullying, etc., was drum and just bang away with the drumsticks held tightly in his hands

he first took it up in middle school when he was absolutely amazed at how each piece of the drum set made a different sound; it amazed him that you could make music without the usual “notes”, as a piano or guitar would need

when he was drumming, he could literally feel all the pent-up rage in his body flow out through his playing, which is why he took up with it so well

he listened to all the records in the music room, his aunt’s collection (when she wasn’t home) and either used his fingers to drum on the table or would make a makeshift drum out of pots, plates and whatever he could find, just to follow along with the music

it’s the one thing he truly believes that he’s good at, for he thinks it makes up for his asshole personality and life

after the whole breakup, he’s broken tons of drumsticks and even considered dropping it, but right at the edge, his life turns around as he joins a band as their drummer, where he meets some of the best people of his life

he doesn’t stay in erith though, for it reminds him too much of her, so with all the jobs and the money he’s saved up, he rents out a little, sorta rundown studio in brooklyn where he literally just sleeps and drinks— the rest of the day, he’s either drumming away at the local music center (too broke for a proper drum set) or working at a records shop!!
