at 36, when last we left aberforth dumbledore, he was fifteen years old and at his sister’s funeral. He might have killed her. Either way, someone did, and now she’s dead. It’s a lot for anyone to handle, and the weight of her absence was a heavy load to carry. He finished school, barely tripping through his NEWTS, and settled into the first job that would have him. this was serving at the hog’s head. it’s been almost twenty years, and he now stands to inherent the place when mrs. mcquarrie, the current owner, passes.

with only a year and some change between him and ariana, the two were incredibly close. beyond him just calming her down when she was having fits, he’d spend most of his time with her as his best friend, telling her stories and assuaging nightmares. he was devastated when it finally sunk in that she wasn’t going to hogwarts.
