Reading about (l)a intrusa (movie & story... but especially the story) is so crazyfunny... Because some people sometimes are like well you see the intruder characger is called juliana burgos which sounds very much like jorge (...) borges, But as a girl. So the story is vasically about borges' sex life/his relationship to sex and that one incident when he was a teenager and his dad got a hooker to have sex with him and it was the same hooker his dad would also have sex with,. And juliana represents HIM. And it's like wowww haha these academics are crazyyyy! And then you read about what people in borges' life said about the story and there's estela canto who said to him years before it was actually published that she thought the story was 1) gay as hell and 2) actually an exploration of borges' relationship with his mother (?) . And it's like hahaha wow ❤👍 Ok
woow ok
I've spent so much of my finite time doing all different kinds of research about this one movie I do think that now it's only fair that I'll wake up one day to the spirit of chc who will thank me and give me like 500000000000 spiritual reais for preserving the memory lf his work, in my mind & multiple social media accounts, and for being the single most interested and knowledgeable brazilian citizen when it comes to this one particular subjject; or to the owner of the cinemateca brasileira (or something like that) who will gift me a version of this movie with decent/watchable image quality -- so that I can watch it one last time and then be forever free from this otherwise seemingly eternal curse.
Guy who doesn't know anything unless he looks them up on the internet voice: For a long time after i watched a intrusa 1979 i was very sure christensen was a gay man like why wouldn't he be making a intrusa but also o menino e o vento that's just what seemed obvious to me i guess. But then i found out he was apparently married to a woman (and also had right-wing politics?* As said in this article), so it was like Wellll where did i even get that from lol silly me assuming things about people i don't really know hahaha! Until i recently re-read the chapter about (l)a intrusa in the book Borges, Desire, and Sex (which i first read right after watching the movie) and realized i didn't think he was gay because I assumed anything by myself, but instead because I HAD READ in the book him being described as "an Argentine gay director"......??? WHAT IS THE TRUTH!!!!!!!!!
* If true (guy who doesn't look things up and doesn't know anything voice) this is so fascinating to me...? Like i believe he's a very to somewhat significant figure wrt erotic cinema in argentine (APPARENTLY the first argentine movie to show nudity was made by him, etc) but also gay cinema in brazil (more because of o menino e o vento than a intrusa) , and i'd love to like....go through and analyze his works Through this perspective? (I can at least think of things to say about a intrusa regarding this, but also... idrk.......)
