*Music Monday* Chakras + Sound Healing + Musical Notes Did you know that we live on vibrational frequencies (Hz) that are affected by the sounds and physical vibrations in our environment? Well, it’s true! So how’s that for learning something new today?! Knowing this, it’s NO WONDER that music can either push us harder in the direction of an emotion we are feeling (helping us process) or that it has the ability to completely pull us out of said emotion (by lifting our spirit in the opposing direction we are feeling) - depending on what we are listening to. Have you ever noticed how listening to a song loaded with minor chords is full of gut-wrenching feeling?...and a song embedded with major chords all over the place sounds unapologetically happy? Well, there’s an actual scientific reason. Minor chords ARE sonically full of every emotion except for happiness. Major chords ARE sonically uplifting! MUSIC + SOUND are so unbelievably important. Sound has the ability to reach & manipulate the utterly intangible feelings and emotions within ourselves; within our souls. And it connects us all to one another. Have you ever felt goosebumps or starting involuntarily crying while listening to something? Yeah...THAT. Sound is one of the ONLY intangibles that leaves a permanent and staying effect on each of us - ex: music therapy, where one’s memory is jogged simply by the music they once knew, is so effective. Besides smell, it has the closest tie to memory because of where music “lives” within the brain. The Science: each of our energetic chakras is actually associated with a particular vibrational frequency = a musical note. We can receive a “tune up” through listening to or participating in music, singing, receiving reiki, sound healing (singing bowls or tuning forks or gongs, etc) or a sound bath - we are literally “TUNING OUR BODIES” to desired frequencies (musical notes) in order for our soulful energetic flow to be in perfect “harmony” with itself.
