i know neither couples will be going anywhere in canon, but i just think it’s lovely how most of the romance-coded development in gbb is happening primarily between inoushi and inuiryuu

inoushi can easily be seen as just a friendship but they’re honestly the ones hitting most of those important shoujo manga beats (calling each other by their first names, dates with big character moments (their mall date), protecting each other, helping each other overcome character flaws etc.) it’s so good to see two female characters who never argue and are never petty towards each other even though they have feelings for the same person. and it’s funny how in a group setting, both of them almost always forget abt ryuuichi entirely and end up focusing on each other. a lot of their character development comes out of interacting with each other rather than anyone else and if they ever end up fighting for any reason i may just cry and never stop.

similarly, inuiryuu are also hitting shoujo beats but like, the ones usually reserved for side characters/couples (lots of misunderstandings being blown out of proportion but easily solved in an arc or two, one sided love and pining, awkward sensually charged moments etc.) but it also doesn’t make it any less sweet? i know it’s mostly for laughs but i love how when ryuuichi is faced with anything romantic, it’s usually happening with inui - the yukari debacle, the school festival aftermath, mika’s crush on hayato ESPECIALLY (the only notable exception being when he got his first confession) poor inui is being inundated with confusing feelings and ryuuichi is obliviously piling onto it and they’re both bisexual disasters.

i doubt we’ll see anything romantic coming out of either of these couples, but we can all dream can’t we?
