unpopular opinion: shikamaru married temari because she's like his mom, and temari beats the shit out of him when she gets mad

Ha Ha Ha. Temari while is certainly cutthroat in battle, she's not the type to blink if it comes to killing an enemy, this show of violence is purely within a battle scenario with life or death repercussions. Temari has been seen to be violent, (even for lols which Is a trope I hate.) in the manga. She’s always been the one outside of battle to push for rationality, in comparison to Gaara && Kank (In the first part of Naruto.)

I don’t think && reject the idea that Temari bosses Shikamaru around or is anything like his mother. (A character I also love.) They are both strong women, much like many other female characters in the manga, but it needs to be understood that women can be strong in different ways, there’s no blanket statement for ‘strong’ women, && Temari is a lot more chill that people seem to give her credit. She does, however, like to TEASE Shikamaru, it’s a way she shows affection, she teases her brothers, it’s an easy way to show affection without having to put too much of herself out there. Temari Is very closed off with her own feelings thanks to the Kazekage class A parenting. (Or lack of.)

Send me a “ 🔥 “ for an unpopular opinion.

I don’t mind shipping, but when did it become only a ‘let’s have nothing but happiness and fluff!!’ Don’t get me wrong, I love fluff!! It’s great!! But. But. 

There’s so much more to write than just fluff in a relationship. Also unnecessary angst. No. Pain happens to people and they grow from it. Give your muses room to grow from that pain, for better or for worse. Unneeded angst for the sake of angst isn’t necessary. It’s more than possible to balance out your writing to make it flow and to tell a story. That’s the thing I see less and less of these days - the lack of story telling. 

Give me something to cry about. Give me a story between these characters, not just a ‘they live at home together and everything was sunshine and roses’. Write the gritty parts. Write strife and failure and disappointment and all the things that make a human being grow and learn. Give me those stories, the untold ones, the unwritten stories that tear at your chest to read, that make you grow as a writer and makes your audience yearn for more. Because yes, this is a hobby, but we’re ultimately telling stories for an audience that engages in it on a daily basis as well as writing for ourselves.

How do you think Rasa reacts when Shikamaru approaches him and asks for permission to marry Tem?

you see, there’s a lot that has to happen before shikamaru can just approach rasa about marrying his daughter. like first, rasa has to be alive because i’m just imagining rasa coming back to life and this pineapple headed leaf ninja comes up to him out of nowhere and rasa is just like ❝…who the fuck are you?❞

now in a scenario in which most everything stayed the same except rasa never died, and he watches temari and shikamaru grow closer, rasa would be more….cordial? as much as someone like rasa can be. although, knowing temari, rasa would be more concerned about him asking her. he thinks his daughter is more difficult to impress than he is. and rasa is pretty difficult to impress.

Everyone who I have talked to has been so nice and wecoming!! And I haven’t even had this blog for very long at all really. I WANT TO GIVE A BIG THANK YOU TO SHORP FOR TALKING TO ME, and basically inspiring me to want to jump into the Naruto Fandom because of their Kankuro which is amazing and I love him!!

I also want to give a pretty big thank you to the muns of @of-smoke-and-deer, @sabakv, @shadcwd, @karukv, @inumbratte, @oneesands, @variantia, @blackgreed, @vestiallus, @galgenballade, @lavafed and @kageheir !

They’ve either answered any questions I had, said something nice, and/or interacted with me a bit thus far (and I have some replies/asks for some of them, at least at this point)!

I also just want to thank EVERYONE SO MUCH WHO’S BEEN INTERESTED IN THIS SOFT SAND BOY (and my mean my followers as well as those, of course!) I’m surprised that I’ve taken to him as much as I have, but I think part of that reason is because I’ve been doodling him, and he makes me happy basically!!

I have a lot of thoughts and I want to interact with everyone I’m mutuals with (once more, non mutuals can still come into my inbox to send questions!) I’m not sure what else I want to say here so I’ll just end it here thanks!!! Sorry if I missed anyone orz.

🔥 about naruto and shikamaru's relationship?

out of all of the male characters on the show ( and of his age ), naruto’s best friend should have been shikamaru. 

of course, i’m not one of those people who think you can only have one best friend ( i’m personally in multiple friend groups and it’s not like i believe one group or friend is more important to me than the others ), but, lbr, in canon ? sasuke was a shitty best friend, and while i do spit on canon ( and say that sasuke was only undercover with the bad guys ), shikamaru had ALWAYS been watching, observing, and noticing naruto.

shikamaru, chōji, naruto, and kiba were shown as the “slackers” of the academy class [ ch.154 ] and probably hung out a bit because of it. shikamaru and chōji were obviously best friends, and naruto and kiba were shown to have a slightly antagonistic rivalry, ( and we saw nothing much of chōji and naruto’s friendship ) but shikamaru and naruto were consistently interacting with each other in a pretty positive way. yeah, they teased each other, but they also supported each other and backed each other up.

naruto is a source of constant inspiration for shikamaru, and shikamaru is a constant support for naruto too. take how shikamaru helped to comfort naruto after jiraiya’s death since he went through something similar with asuma. naruto is one of the four people that shikamaru truly believes in ( the other three being chōji and ino, his best friends, and temari, his canonical love interest ) and will probably always follow no matter what. 

hell, take the pein invasion -- shikamaru was one of two people who were shown wanting to rush after naruto when hearing he was fighting pein ( and the other was hinata, naruto’s canonical love interest ), and, lbr, the only two reasons why he didn’t was a) his leg was broken and b) his dad said that he wouldn’t be of any use on the field with naruto. 

i’m consistently interested in and love the interactions between shikamaru and naruto, and i wish that the manga could have put a bit more importance into it. i’m always happy to see fanfics where naruto and shikamaru are in the same team or are shown to be really close ( a really good one to me is “motivation”, an au where iruka dies, naruto kills mizuki in return, and thus shikamaru, shino, and naruto are singled out for being the only ones in the class who have killed before ).

i also ship them a fuck ton romantically too, don’t mind me.

groundhog day

     It was the same day over and over again. Like living in his head and being unable to control his body. He watched the same fight play out again and again like a bad dream. He could feel his partner killing one of his hearts. He could shout as loudly as he wanted to in his head. Kakuzu could point out every mistake he and Hidan had made that lead to the very moment that they were wiped out. And as soon as the screeching of the Chidori would kill his last heart, he would wake up again.

     The moment after they had sealed away the two tails, he would go through giving Hidan his headband, he would walk through the land of fire. He would see that damn bird, and then the fight would begin all over again. How many times had he died? And how many times had he screamed, stuck in the same old doomed loop. Something had to be wrong. There had to be a way to break free of this hell. 

     Around the 1300th time Kakuzu had been killed, he had begun to zone out. The world around him became fading colors, and voices. The muscle memory of his own words faded into the background until he was catatonic in his own mind. 

     Until something jarring happened. Kakuzu was forced to the surface of his own mind as his shoulder stung. The chakra blade lodged just below his right collarbone made him lock eyes with the konoha brat across the way. Could it be possible? Were all of them stuck in this loop? Had Shikamaru used this as a way to signal him?

      The loop... could it be broken with enough willpower?

Shikamaru uvu

OOF ,   okay ,   i   have   a   lot   to   say   about   them .   their   relationship   is   honestly   one   that   consistently   appeared   in   the   ‘ background ’   throughout   naruto’s   life .   the   manga   /   anime   liked   to   have   naruto   yell   about   sasuke   all   the   time ,   but   no   matter   what ,   shikamaru   seemed   to   always   be   at   naruto’s   back ,   helping   him   when   he   needed   it   most .   they   started   as   friends   in   the   academy ,   which   was   a   feat   in   itself   because   parents   just   didn’t   let   their   kids   associate   with   naruto   at   all .   yet   shikamaru ,   who’s   a   genius   &   likely   noticed   this ,   didn’t   give   a   shit .   him   &   chouji   actually   sought   him   out   at   times   &   eased   naruto’s   loneliness .   naruto   &   sasuke   might   have   a   special   connection   &   all   that ,   but   shikamaru   &   chouji   were   naruto’s   first   friends ,   &   shikamaru   especially   became   closer   to   naruto   as   time   passed .

what  really   solidified   their   friendship   in   my   mind   was   how   they   interacted   during   &   after   the   asuma   /   jiraiya   incidents .   both   were   riddled   with   grief   &   dealing   with   it   in   their   own   ways ,   yet   they   also   managed   to   be   the   person   who   helped   the   other .   naruto   training   &   then   fighting   the   akatsuki   to   support   team   10 ,   leading   shikamaru   to   realize   he   wants   to   follow   naruto .   shikamaru   helping   naruto   snap   out   of   his   depression   by   saying   exactly   what   naruto   needed   to   hear ,   &   connecting   them   together   with   a   shared   experience .   it   really ,   really   gets   me ,   how   much   shikamaru   actually   looks   at ,   acknowledges   &   observes   naruto .   when   naruto   was   still   fighting   to   be   seen   for   who   he   was ,   shikamaru   was   already   half - way   dedicating   himself   to   be   naruto’s   shadow .

PLUS ,   during   the   whole   pain   invasion   arc ,   when   naruto   was   being   stabbed   into   the   ground   by   pain   there   were   two   people   willing   to   go   forward   &   help .   hinata   &   shikamaru .   i’m   sure   there   were   others   who   wanted   to ,   but   the   manga   took   the   time   to   focus   on   shika   being   like ?   I   NEED   TO   HELP !   until   they   were   like ,,   shika   your   fuckin’   leg’s   broke .   shikamaru ,   who’s   a   genius   &   brilliant   as   all   hell ,   threw   caution   to   the   wind   &   wanted   to   help   naruto   with   a   broken   leg .

&   DON’T   EVEN   GET   ME   STARTED   on   the   fourth   war !   that   whole   scene   where   shika   almost   died   &   then   fuckin’   broadcast   his   feelings   about   naruto ?   i   was   liVING   FOR   IT .   the   dedication   he   felt   towards   naruto   just   blew   me   away .   here   was   someone   who   wanted   to   always   stand   beside   this   dumb   blond   kid   with   a   heart   of   gold   for   the   rest   of   his   goddamn   life .   say   what   you   want ,   but   they   had   a   more   thought - out ,   endearingly   progressive   relationship   than   naruto   &   sasuke   did .   we   got   to   see   them   grow   together   &   support   each   other   to   the   point   where   they’ve   built   this   incredible   bond   of   trust   between   the   two   of   them .   shikamaru   is   the   one   naruto   turns   to   &   relies   on ,   it’s   shikamaru   who   is   the   one   at   naruto’s   back ,   holding   him   up   &   pushing   him   onward .
