Inu and Kumi are all grown up.
They’ve graduated from UA and got their hero licenses.
They have been dating since their first/second year and now live together in a nice cozy apartment.
One day, Inu opens the door to his and Kumi’s shared bedroom and peeks in. He sees Kumi standing in front of the vanity mirror, staring at the scars that cover her abdomen and arms.
Inu steps into the room cautiously, speaking softly to not spook her. “Kumi? Are you okay?”
Kumi doesn’t look away from the mirror, but speaks solemnly “How can you love someone as hideous as me..?”
Inu frowns and walks behind her. He wraps his arms around her waist and holds her gently.
“Why do you say that, babe?”
He asks, putting his cheek on her shoulder.
“These scars.. they make me look like a freak.”
Inu sighs through his nose and kisses her shoulder, his grip on Kumi tightens just a little.
“I think you’re beautiful.. scars and all..”
He whispers against her shoulder. She grasps Inu’s hands with her own, playing with his fingers.
“You really thinks so?”
“I know so.”
Kumi smiles softly, turning around in his grasp and puts her head on his shoulder. She hums, nuzzling his neck with her nose.
“I love you..”
“I love you to..”
Gnawing on a bone. This is life.
Drowsy ramblings
Inu and Kumi lay in each others embrace, Kumi has her arms wrapped around Inu’s chest while Inu has his arm wrapped around her waist.
Everything is quiet, a comfortable silence. Then, Inu breaks the silence.
“Y’Know what I like most about cats?”
He sleepily asks, slurring just a little. Kumi hums, opening her eyes and peering up at him.
“I like it... when.. they do the loaf thing..”
“Like.. when they tuck their legs in underneath themselves..?
“Yeah.. they always look goofy..”
Kumi snorts, rubbing her eye with the palm of her hand.
“You’re goofy..”
“But you love me.”
“Mhm.. more than anything in the world..”
Kumi hums, closing her eyes and tries to snuggle closer to Inu. He looks down at her and places a kiss on her forehead.
“Goodnight..”

Tearful reunion
A thumb brushed away falling tears, bandaged hands gently held the face of another, and metal claw tips scraped lightly at skin.
Kumi stares into Inu’s eyes, taking in his sorrow filled expression.
“Why did you leave...?”
He asks in a hushed tone, voice breaking just in the slightest. Kumi blinks, sighing slowly and leaned in to kiss him gingerly on his forehead.
“It was just not my place to be. I would’ve never became a hero.”
She whispers against his skin.
Chains loosened and dropped to the ground as Kumi began to back away. Inu watches her go. Watches her tilt her mask back onto face, and watches her disappear into the dust.
He collapses to his knees, ignoring the pain that came with it, and let out a choked sob.
“Please...”
He begs, to nobody.
“Please don’t go...”
“I need you..”
“...”
“...”
“aruff ruff.”
