The girl shot up from her slumber, drenched from head to food in a cold and anxious sweat. Her vision began to clear and when she had slowed her breathing, the american noted her surroundings. It was the peak of summer, the frogs housed at the nearby river croaking loudly in search of a partner, the blanket of stars above twinkling without the restrictions of her light polluted world. It was peaceful beyond reason, which only heightened her anxiety; Something this soothing was never meant to last. Her wild and unruly curls of chocolate sticking to the sun-kissed and freckled flesh of her shoulders... It was unbearably hot.
Without much thought, the woman reached up to the tight, form-fitting shozoku and began to shed it from her overheating frame... That was until the half-man clad in red landed in front of her with a soft ‘thump’. He was light on his feet, barely making a mark on the earth, but the girl cried out in surprise, immediately covering any of her skin [even though it was only her collar exposed and some cleavage... due to the stress of her body type for such a small garment] while he covered his sensitive, animal like ears.
“DON’T JUST JUMP OUT LIKE THAT!!”
Lauren snarled at him, her cheeks vibrant with embarrassment. How could she have forgotten she had been traveling with this man? It was what... A little over six months now? Half a year and she forgot he was nearby? More than likely, up in the tree she rested under? Wonderful, Lauren hissed to herself, before her thoughts were invaded by the secondary spirit residing in her corpse.
You should be more aware of your predicament, girl.
How many times do I have to tell you... I have a name! And I just... Forgot okay? Why didn’t you tell me he was nearby!?
Do you not understand the humor behind letting this play out?
Fuck off.
Lauren tried to pull the shozoku up further on her shoulders but the cloth would not budge, instead she had to settle for it to rest off the sides of her arms and exposing the smooth hide of her neck, shoulders and collar region.
“... S-Sorry... Did I wake you?”
She tried to communicate with small gestures mimicking sleep and then pointing to him. Six months and they still couldn’t communicate? Well at least they were... Learning to read one another’s body language and expressions right? That was something at least.
