If anyone hasn’t heard of this nonprofit yet, the videos are worth taking a look at! Lionfish extermination corp
Lionfish are native to the South Pacific, and have become a devastatingly invasive species throughout the Atlantic, and even into the Mediterranean, where they have no natural predators. They eat small fish, eliminating the food supply of fish their same size. Invasive lionfish frequently outcompete other predators in the area, and have had a detrimental ecological impact.
Human efforts to fish for them have dramatically reduced their numbers, and the fish caught by these divers is often sold to restaurants who serve it.
It can be served in all sorts of ways. Raw, as in the video, or often fried, seared, or cooked into a ceviche.
