        “ if this is your idea of pillow talk, we have some things to work on. ”  still, there’s an unwavering smile upon her lips.  for all the trouble she gives him, janet doesn’t mind listening to his stories  (even if some of them are a little too fanciful to believe).  “ let me guess  ---  he, too, raved about your genius for hours. ”  she takes on an exaggerated tone, giving a grandiose gesture with one hand.

he still hasn’t met him.  when the stark lettering was replaced by a solitaire A for the avengers and the team was invited to call it home,  steve figured he would come face to face with their would - be benefactor.  but that was months ago. since then he has spoken with him through holograms,  received curt, cryptic notes from him, and found several unprompted gifts in his room.  but he has yet to meet him face to face. 

when steve first questioned it,  he was told it was normal.  or rather, it had become normal since the billionaire was taken hostage during a business deal overseas. when he returned,  he gave a bizarre press conference where he announced he was no longer going to make weapons and then he disappeared from the public eye. 

steve would like to meet him -- to shake his hand and tell him he’s grateful to have been given a home after waking up from the ice. the team embraced him in a way steve wasn’t used to but friendships forged on the battlefield can always stand up. 

he voices his concerns to one of those teammates -- a robot called iron man,  tony stark’s bodyguard.  ❝ — have you ever met him ? ❞  steve asks him though it would be absurd for iron man to guard a man he had never met.  so,  steve rephrases,   ❝ — i was just thinking,  why does he need a bodyguard if he never leaves the penthouse  ?  ❞

She watches as his head sinks between her thighs, pressing kisses to trembling flesh as a shudder ripples through her body. “Well first -- I had a meeting with R&D,” she begins before biting her lip.
