“I SUPPOSE I'LL THINK OF SOMETHING. OR DIE.” / @invintsible
“no!” the word is punched from her in shock, the distress written all over her face. she's seen him all kinds of beat up, bloody, bruised, and broken, but he's always bounced back from it. this time won't be any different. “you can't die, you're—”
“—dying's not on the table.” easy words for anybody to say, but coming from lovebug they sound like a promise; like a fact of the universe. so little about lovebug makes sense logically. a pacifist superhero? that sounds absurd and like anyone would get squashed like a, well, like a bug in a second flat if they tried it. but sometimes the unshakable conviction of andie's heart is just stronger and the universe needs to bend to her will.
she reaches out her gloved hands for his and holds on tight. for all that their heroics are so different from one another's, this someone she has always walked beside. they met only shortly after she got her powers and have grown up together, in a way, even if his growing has expanded to take him beyond earth and into the far reaches of space, while hers has come to include a handful more blocks of the city. he's stepped up for the entire world, and yet he thinks the world won't step up for him? “you're not the only protector on this planet.” the grip she has on his fingers would probably be crushing to anybody else, a refusal to let him go, “you don't have to think of something alone.”
