Happy Monday!
My hair stylist recently installed some Crochet Braids for me last week. Instead of using Marley hair, she used the Freetress Water Wave Hair pictured below.
I purchased 8 packs from Beauty 4 U. The Campus Way location only had seven packs left in color 2. I purchased those last seven packs. Then I went to the Central Avenue location and purchased one pack in color 1B because they didn’t have any in color 2. Each pack was $6.99 but plus tax the final amount per pack was $7.91. Beauty 4 U has (free) VIP membership cards. With each purchase, reward points are added to this VIP card. It’s a small key chain card that works like a Giant card or Panera rewards card. With the reward points, you’re able to get discounts on your next purchase. With my reward points (from purchasing the seven packs), I only had to pay $4.69 for the last pack in color 1B. I got %5 off my entire purchase (of the seven packs) for opening up a VIP membership. Needless to say, I will only go to Beauty 4 U. You can view their MD locations here.
The Cornrows
My stylist added hair to these cornrows.
Invisible Part
My stylist actually made two parts for me. This center part below and then a side part which I didn’t take a picture of. She wanted to give me the option of either rocking a center or a side part.
The Finished Product
It took about 4 hours. We used all 8 packs that I bought. In addition, we used a little bit of hair from a 9th pack that the stylist had. Whenever she removed the hair from the pack she would wet it with water and then shake it. Then she would run a towel through the wet hair to remove any excess water. This left the hair damp. She did this to decrease the frizziness caused by splitting the curls in two, sometimes even three pieces to get that fullness. If she had used the hair straight out the pack, it wouldn’t have been so full with volume and we would’ve ran out of hair sooner. That is why she she split the curls into two or three pieces
Day One
I wore half up and half down because I wasn’t ready to go big to work…lol
Day 2
I decided to wear it down for the Monica concert! Blog post on that concert coming soon! I I rocked the side part below but you cannot see the actual part. Lowkey, I could barely find it..lol #Toomuchhair
CONS
Today marks a week since installation. I do like my hair and I feel like Ms. Diana Ross. My inner diva Amma Mama fierce…lol However, this hair gets easily matted and tangled. Especially overnight. As a result, it’s best for me to sleep with two ponytails on the side (pigtails) and then put on my jumbo sized hair bonnet. In the morning, I shake and fluff it up which takes time. I pull apart any tangled/matted parts. I also trim any curls or stray hair that is hanging unevenly. It definitely takes sometime in the morning.
PROS
It’s Zumba friendly. I have been to Zumba three times since having it installed last week. It’s not heavy. I put it in two secure (not tight though) ponytails for Zumba. One ponytail up and then another ponytail down.
It’s getting smaller. Even though it’s still big with volume, its calming down a bit which is good for me..lol
My hair is protected!!! I got this to protective style to protect my hair from the harsh and dry cold but for the past couple of days, its been mid 60s. That picture above by the Christmas tree was taken yesterday. I didn’t wear a coat or stockings when I went out for brunch. It was unseasonably warm and beautiful outside. At least my hair is prepared for when winter returns. I hear it will be cold again this week. It was fun while it lasted :-/
How are you protecting your hair this winter?

Also let me know if you want my stylist’s info. She is located in Bowie, MD. She is great and I am always referring people to her.
Have a blessed week :-)
