Project: [Invisible Structures]
My design inspiration comes from plant cells, I focused on the internal structure and space within leaves. I used two step visual process in order to depict the internal space. The first step was physically cutting into a leaf, followed by using the patterns found to display the structure of the mesophyll cells.

Fluidizing Sand

Is both transformative and oppositional – encouraging a reconsideration (among other things) of what a fluid is, even if water is wet and sand is dry – if one can be substituted by the other then what exactly is the difference?
The falsification criteria that Malte spoke about is also concerned with being oppositional, exploring where our theories and ideas about the world break down and where they hold their own.
The Royal Institution have a history of demonstrating the fluidisation of sand, If water can be replaced with sand what exactly is the differentce? :

Defining boundaries
Interesting (grand) themes Here a few themes i would like to take connect to my project, still in search of my rhino i would like to use the small to connect to the grand.
Sustainism One overlaying theme i would like to implement in this project would be sustainism. even though the word has become somewhat a hype and buzzword it is important to recognize the impact of design. I see sustainism as a from of social sustainism how can design better people over a long period of time as apposed to a short burst of help.
Social design This brings us to social design. Designing situations rather than just objects, if we want to design for a better world on the long term we need to design situations a great example is the Barefoot college (video in earlier post)
Invisible structures how much freedom does mankind have within his own structures? social, economic & belief structures greatly dictate the way we live our lives we believe were living a free life but most of our choices have already been made within the vast grids of these invisible structures, not necessarily a problem as we need structure in our lives. the problem that does seem to be there is control, are we in control of these structures or have they grown to control us. Where economy helps us to spread workload and innovate it seems to have grown to control us to produce faster and consume more at the cost of ourselves and our environments. Would moving slower be a problem?
