@inxanis ~ birthday boys!
Time certainly flew by during his studies in America. The next semester was right around the corner, and tomorrow, his birthday.
The original plan was to cop a plane ticket back to Japan and celebrate there with his friends. Unfortunately, that plan did not take wing. He only knew one person here in the states, and while they had their quarrels here and there (mostly everywhere), Yusuke couldn’t deny that he had grown fond of Dabi’s presence. They even had each other’s numbers. At times, it felt like he hadn’t left home when they spoke in Japanese, which Yusuke was extremely grateful for. He wasn’t certain if the gratitude went both ways. In fact... Yusuke didn’t know much about him.
He was laying down on his bed feeling melancholy about tomorrow. Seeing his friends again after so long was the one thing that he was looking forward to. Because Yusuke didn’t know Dabi all too well beneath the surface, he wasn’t sure if his classmate would want to spend the day with him. Maybe because it was his birthday it would be different! Then again, Yusuke could already hear the denial. Which, would have been fine; Yusuke had a few birthdays where he spent them alone. This particular loneliness was part of being homesick, part of knowing only one person.
Better to have tried and failed than to not even attempt.
[Dabi] : Good evening. Were you doing anything tomorrow? It’s my birthday, and I wanted to ask if you’d join me.
Send.
Yusuke stared at the white ceiling as he waited for a reply. What would he even do tomorrow? Buying a cake for sure. But where to go? Yusuke hadn’t ventured that far at all last semester, and spent most of his time in the studio or in his dorm, always working on something. Because of his diligence to his work, the artists’ grades were all A’s. Though now that he was thinking about it, a couple of days out of his week where he really explored the area would have been nice.
