Inzektor Hornet
“Once per turn: You can equip 1 ‘Inzektor’ monster from your hand or Graveyard to this card. While this card is equipped to a monster, that monster’s Level is increased by 3, also it gains ATK and DEF equal to this card’s ATK and DEF. While this card is equipped to a monster: You can send this Equip Card to the Graveyard to target 1 card on the field; destroy that target.”
Inzektor Hornet ———————————————— Once per turn: You can equip 1 "Inzektor" monster from your hand or Graveyard to this card. While this card is equipped to a monster, that monster's Level is increased by 3, also it gains ATK and DEF equal to this card's ATK and DEF. While this card is equipped to a monster: You can send this Equip Card to the Graveyard to target 1 card on the field; destroy that target. ———————————————— Can Be Found In: Order of Chaos (ORCS-EN017)
Inzektors are an archetype which use each other as equipment for all kinds of benefits. While this might seem similar to Union Monsters, they have the advantage of reusing their members from the Graveyard that lets them keep control of a Duel during mid to late game. The benefits of equipping Inzektors ranges from stat boosts to additional effects, as well manipulating their Levels in the process for any big summons if needed. This aggresive gamestyle allowed them to dominate the competitive scene for a while, thanks to each member having a different purpose for the proper scenario together with perfect card management.
"Inzektor Hornet" is probably the most feared member in the entire archetype despite its low stats, taking a limited position in the TCG banlist for several years. Like many other Inzektors, "Hornet" can equip an Inzektor from our hand or Graveyard to gain their respective benefits. If "Hornet" is the one that becomes equipment for other Inzektors it will grant a Level increase of 3 as well boost its target's stats equal to its own. But "Hornet" gained reputation for its final ability, that lets it to unequip from its target and go to the Graveyard to destroy any card on the field. Keeping on mind that Inzektors can retrieve its members from the Graveyard to become equipment as well sinergy with certain effects, is clear why "Hornet" remains restricted to one copy. But even with a single "Hornet" available, we can go from easily taking down serious threats to clearing a big portion of the opponent's board together with the right Inzektors.
Even with a limited status, "Inzektor Hornet" is easy to obtain to later on constantly be retrieved from the Graveyard by the rest of the archetype. In most circumstances "Hornet" will be obtained by the effects of "Inzektor Dragonfly" and "Inzektor Centipede", as once they dispose of their equipment we will obtain this Inzektor in return. Alternatively we can tribute an Insect by the Spell "Insect Imitation" to summon it from the Deck, and since members like "Inzektor Ladybug" will be equipped from the Graveyard afterwards there's no big loss in the process. Regardless of how we obtain it, later on "Hornet" will mostly rest in our Graveyard to be constantly equipped in other Inzektors to gain its benefits and/or destroy opponent cards with, so we can even use milling effects such as Lightsworns or "Armageddon Knight" to immediately dispose of it from our Deck.
"Hornet" on its own won't have a huge pressence on the field, but will become a menacing card when working along the rest of Inzektors. Like the rest of the archetype "Hornet" will be equipping its allies to gain their respective effects, ranging from Level increases for Extra Deck setups to big stat boosts from members such as "Inzektor Giga-Mantis". But as mentioned before, "Hornet" shines the most when is the one becoming equipment for the rest of the build, and even with a single copy available it can become quite easy to exploit. "Inzektor Centipede" will use "Hornet" to not only destroy a card but also trigger its searching ability so we can oibtain archetype cards in our hand. A stronger alternative is "Inzektor Dragonfly", as after disposing of "Hornet" we will be able to summon another Inzektor which then will reuse "Hornet" in the same turn. The latter method pretty much encourages gathering as many Inzektors as possible, as the more of them on the board the more times we will be able to use "Hornet" in a single turn. Together with revival effects such as "Call of the Haunted" and "Soul Charge", even with a single "Hornet" in the Graveyard we have several opportunities to clear the opposite field.
"Inzektor Hornet" might be one of the weakest Inzektors statwise, but easily leads the entire build despite its position in the banlist. Even if we can only use a single copy, as soon "Hornet" hits the Graveyard the rest of Inzektors will constantly equip it on themselves for either their stat increases or take down opponent cards. Obviously the latter has lots its dreadful exploits with "Hornet" being limited, but is still more than capable of destroying several cards in a single turn by just summoning various Inzektors in a single turn. "Hornet" might be completely dependant of the whole archetype to show its true colors, but as soon we gather our Inzektors and summoning tools we will obtain its benefits at their fullest.
Personal Rating: A+
+ Can equip an Inzektor monster from our hand or Graveyard + If equipped on an Inzektor it will provide a stat boost and Level increase + Can be sent to the Graveyard while equipped to destroy a card on the field + Highly supported along summoning methods to exploit its removal effect
- Low stats on its own - Completely dependant on the rest of the archetype to work
