Finally came back around to finish off the designs for those Soul Silver gijinkas. A recap: when I got my used copy of Soul Silver, the previous owner had saved in Union Cave with five Pokemon and one badge. They were in that cave for 13 years. I got them out and reset the save, leaving behind only a 'world sacrifice' Pokemon to be deleted. In my own file, I recaptured my world sacrifice, a Pokemon with the same species, location, level, and gender as the one that got wiped. That's Daniel, the Slowpoke, named after the old file's original trainer. Daniel traveled with my personal team of resurrected Pokemon and made his way up to the championship. Now, Daniel is traveling Kanto with the original five and helping them level so that they can secure their own champion victory.
Every one of the 'cave family' has 'dan' somewhere in their name, because their original trainer was named Daniel. I already have gijinka designs for Danson the Meganium, Loredana the Raticate, and Adannaya the Beedrill. Two were left.
I was kind of stuck on Iordan because in theory he's the most nothingburger member of the crew. Oh nooo, this poor Geodude was trapped in a cave, how very different from the standard habitat of a Geodude. I actually turned that around and made it his defining trait, he had less trouble than his siblings and therefore became their caretaker. He's worn down not by time or the elements but by responsibility. But he'll be fine. I very blatantly pulled outfit ideas from generic Hiker trainers, because what else would I do?
Roldan I knew what I wanted to do with, he's the Togepi that you get early on in the game. He was already hatched, so he's met his original 'dad' but had to be raised by his siblings. A cave is no place for a bird(?) thing to grow up, so he's kind of unusual, but he's not downtrodden in the same way his siblings are. He thinks of himself as the baby of the family, and sometimes forgets that Daniel is WAY younger than he is.
I think I got these guys trained up to like level 50 and I was going to go around and beat all the Kanto gyms.
