A lot of folks – including yours truly – started off by comparing the iPad Pro to the Surface Pro 3.
Personally, I blame the Apple marketing folks; they used the same “Pro” name, claimed it was more powerful than 75% of laptops sold last year, they included a keyboard and pen… err…. pencil, and they even set the price point to be in the same range as the Surface Pro 3.

If you hadn’t heard yet, Apple announced the iPad Pro today. At first glance, it looks like Apple took a lot of inspiration from the Surface Pro 3 as it offers a 12.9″ screen, it supports the “Apple Pencil” (Surface Pen), and it even has a detachable “Smart Keyboard” (Type Cover) option.
But, aside from surface (no pun) appearances, how does it measure up?

iPad Pro: a USB 3.0 port and a taste for keyboards and mice?
Rumors and are very similar to the iPad Pro. Tonight, Bloomberg announced a delay for future large format tablet, whose launch is now scheduled for the second half of the year (read: The iPad “Pro” would experience a delay in production ). The Wall Street Journal adds a layer this morning confirming this information, ie a production start in the second half, while Apple had hoped to begin volume production of 12.9-inch device as soon the first quarter.
But the WSJ goes beyond telling the builder revolves around the idea of adding at least one USB 3.0 port , which would be a first for an iPad whose only output ports so far are the proprietary connector and audio output. The site does not specifically talking about USB Type-C (reversible), but if he and Apple integrates itself into the future MacBook Air, it is likely that the iPad Pro will also benefit.
Such a port would facilitate data transfer and synchronization between a computer or external storage space, ideal amount for a “professional” tool. Compared with lower-margin iPad mini with Retina display, which shipments has been tepid, higher-margin iPad Air was a hot selling item in 4Q13, which will slow Apple in developing new iPad mini models. We believe Apple plans to launch upgraded iPad Air early this year, and will accelerate development of 12.9" iPad. As such, more resources will be allocated to these two products, which will affect the progress of the development of new iPad mini. All told, we think chances of the debut of a new iPad mini in 2H14 are slim. In addition, the 12.9" iPad is unlikely to be offered in 2014. For these reasons, we predict the only new iPad product in 2H14 will be the upgraded iPad Air.
There is a high possibility now that this time we will be seeing an upgraded iPad this year and most expected an iPad which is lighter or of similar weight but with fingerprint sensor.
