iPad Air 2 - A Transformative Experience
iPad has been unique among gadget offerings since the very first generation. It's appeal seems to instantly translate the moment a newcomer holds it and uses it for the first time, even if that person had previously been dismissive. iPad is a true personal computer, not in name only, directly connecting the user with their content in an intimate and immersive way. With each generation, Apple's focus has been to make iPad even better at doing this. Whether that means thinning out, lightening up or increasing screen quality, Apple has almost flawlessly succeeded in consistently making their tablet better at what it already did best. The latest release, iPad Air 2, is no exception - it is the best iPad you can imagine. In fact, because of the unique strengths of the category as a whole and the relentless refinement evident in iPad Air 2, I would call it the best Apple device yet. In terms of its physicality, it is ultrathin, solid and practically weightless, coming in a few different color options. In terms of its capability, it has the power to inspire new habits and spark ideas like no other technology that I have experienced. Apple has outfitted it with generous technical capacity, but the real 'magic' of the iPad is its transformative power. I have written previously about my personal experience with these devices, going so far as to say that it has changed my life. That may sound overstated, but it is accurate. Using iPad has made me more inclined to take a note or draw a sketch, make a few more tweaks to a photo, read just that one more chapter in my current book and discover new ways of expressing myself. It has fostered my creative and critical thinking skills. How can this be explained? It is the perfect recipe executed with increasing precision that delivers a device that can facilitate just about any desired experience. Just this week, I found myself relying on my iPad Air 2 almost exclusively in Zion National Park. I found the expansive screen to be quite the viewfinder for these geologic formations of epic proportions, captured with the high-quality rear-facing 8MP camera. Within an instant, I could summon VSCOcam or Pixelmator to fine tune everything from gigantic panoramas to macro close-ups and just as quickly share them online. In the evening, my mind would roam while brainstorming in the Paper by 53 app. I could meanwhile manageably switch between messaging conversations with friends and family. These activities would last all day, and iPad Air 2 handled it all with plenty to spare. I look forward to seeing more apps making use of the generational advantage the Air 2 has for the upcoming year. The bottom line, really, is that iPad Air 2 enhanced my entire vacation. Perhaps I should be unimpressed with these experiences by now, having used iPads for nearly 5 years, but I often continue to step back and marvel at the unprecedented convenience, capability and connectivity in these devices that unfailingly improves every year.
