This not-so-tiny fella was actually hissing at me when he was captured and then released across the road from the house. Definitely an uninvited guest to the neighbourhood. After a bit of research though, he was identified as a 'ten lined June beetle'. And with that bit of knowledge, he was found on July 29th, definitely a late bloomer! And according to documentation - they are large beetles of 22 to 28 mm size, which are attracted to lights at night and are found under the lights in the daylight. They hiss and squeal when handled. And as far as this guy being the member of the scarab line, I much prefer the beautiful iridescent kind in the movie 'The Mummy'. Note the amazing detail such as the individual hairs found on the legs. Way to go Apple for the camera on the iPhone 8S Plus which features a more advanced 12MP camera. With a larger, faster sensor. A new colour filter.
