Part 1 of 2 These are the Christmas wreaths that the Faerie Nursery made this season. The first one, done in rose gold was made for our own front door. The rest were given away to friends, neighbours and community businesses. I created 12 this year with requests already being made for more. Whether in classical shades of red, gold and silver, I usually just let the colours choose themselves. As well this year, I added in lights so in the evening front doors were highlighted in the moonlight. The most requested shade for 2021 is blue! So I’ve already ordered about 300 more silk poinsettia flowers, 200 of them in the colour blue. Throughout the year I will continue to purchase decorations as I happen upon them. Well my original post went like this when my tickets first arrived about 2,months ago via currier....Yay! Well possibly Yay with this whole Covid-19! This will be my second time attending the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve F1 race. The last time was in 2003 for Gilles Villeneuve’s son, Jacques’ last race in a formula car under his own brand of BAR Honda during the 25th anniversary of the Air Canada Grand Prix. Now, instead of sitting in the stands watching the free practices and qualifying sessions today, I’m sitting at home, still unable to leave the island even if I wanted to. Even though they are still announcing race locations for the 2020 season and even these first 8 races will be done without fans being in the stands unfortunately I doubt that there will be time within the 2020 F1 calendar for Canada to open up its borders before the snow flies in Montreal. Here’s looking forward to next season and to keeping the F1 dream alive. I’m so excited to be introducing our Costume Line to the Nursery. Coming this summer to the Qualicum Beach Uptown Street Market you can dress up like your favourite magical creature and have your photo taken with your cell phone right at our tent. These are the stickers that I designed for the Costume bags indicating sizes and prices matching the company business cards perfectly. In line with the other colour scheme of the business and to go with the rest of the stand up banners, this banner introduces and welcomes all to come and dress-up as their favourite magical creature. The backdrop is done on the same purple with pink rose vines, there is green artificial grass flooring with stone carpet cutouts inviting those to walk on and enter our ‘Enchanted Pathways Faerie Nursery’. It’s hard to believe, but then again, no it’s not that hard to believe (when you believe) that another year has come and gone and here we are here together on another International Faerie’s Day. The faeries themselves have been hard at work trying to the get the garden ready to celebrate. Invites went out in the mail weeks ago, with faeries from around the world responding with their RSVP’s arriving in the post, well post haste. Tent has been erected and decorated with blossoms, tinsel, twinkle lights and balloons. Tables have been set up with pretty ribbons, colour coordinated plates, napkins and silverware that reflects the sun. Can you hear the little tiny jingle bells ringing, just over and above the songs of the birds singing in the garden. What about itty bitty fireworks, can see you all those amazing colours? Can you imagine the taste of those wee cakes just fresh out of the oven, you know the ones with the sprinkles on top? How about the aroma of the fruity tea being poured into the fine china teacups with the matching saucers and for those that prefer a colder variety, ice cubes are frozen. The birds have been practicing what seems like night and day now for at least a week if not more (I’m sure that they will all be in tune when it comes to the grand finale). Squirrels and chipmunks alike have promised to not sneak away with any snacks until after the party is over that is. The deer have been keeping their word and not snacking on all of the pretty flowers (yes, even the wee ones have been on their best behaviour). Speaking of flowers, and as if on cue, the roses are in full bloom along with the wild daisies that grow along the laneway. Now, what are we missing.
