Why is PSL more popular than IPL?
“The Wicket Wasn’t Easy”: Ishan Kishan Reveals SRH’s Real Challenge Against CSK
Sunrisers Hyderabad star Ishan Kishan admitted that the chase against Chennai Super Kings was much tougher than it looked after SRH sealed an important win in IPL 2026.
Kishan played a calm and responsible innings to guide Hyderabad to victory at Chepauk and help the team officially qualify for the playoffs. While SRH managed to complete the chase with confidence, the wicketkeeper-batter said the pitch created plenty of problems for the batters throughout the game.
Speaking after the match, Kishan explained that the surface was slowing down and was not ideal for stroke-making. He said that while keeping wickets during CSK’s innings, he understood early that batting would not be easy later in the match.
According to Kishan, timing the ball perfectly was difficult, especially against spin bowlers and slower deliveries. He added that the team’s plan was to build partnerships instead of attacking recklessly because losing wickets quickly on that surface could have changed the game completely.
The left-hander also revealed that he wanted to stay at the crease till the very end and finish the match himself. He believed that taking the game deep was the safest option considering the tricky conditions at Chepauk.
Kishan’s composed knock eventually helped SRH register a valuable five-wicket win over CSK. His innings played a major role in Hyderabad confirming their place in the IPL 2026 playoffs.
The batter later said the victory meant a lot emotionally and expressed happiness about contributing during such an important stage of the tournament.
With momentum on their side and key players performing consistently, Sunrisers Hyderabad now look like one of the strongest contenders heading into the IPL 2026 playoffs.
