TWO MORE DAYS UNTIL IMMORTAL REIGN
Countdown to Immortal Reign
Okay, Kindred, let’s attempt to do this. We’re going to keep this nice and simple: talk about a favorite thing from every book. It could be a scene, a character, a quote, or whatever your heart desires. You can just post it or talk about it, make an edit or a drawing...whatever your favorite thing inspires you to do!
1/5 - favorite of Falling Kingdoms
1/12 - favorite of Rebel Spring
1/19 - favorite of Gathering Darkness
1/26 - favorite of Frozen Tides
2/2 - favorite of Crystal Storm
If you tag me in your post I’ll be sure to reblog it. :)
Having reread Rebel Springs, it’s hard to understand why I was shipping Jonas and Cleo. In this book, romances are delved into head on without much but the hope for something good. Lucia suddenly claims she’s in love with Alexius, Jonas claims to have fallen for Cleo who he originally hated, and Cleo ends up with an unnamed something for him. You can even argue Ashicolo begins this way, with a kiss in an alley with no real feelings involved.
I think I just disliked Magnus, like Cleo and Nic, because he killed Theon and because he continued to follow his father’s commands. It’s sort of kept with me even as their feelings developed. But rereading, knowing who Magnus becomes and what he’s been through, he’s suddenly made it into my top favorite characters list.
Magnus needs to see the good in himself and to realize that he is not his father nor does he need to be. Cleo needs to see past the black and white she has always believed her world to be. It’s not something either of them can dive into, unlike most the romances that never lasted, but part of both of them evolving.
My blog doesn’t feature too much Magneo discussion because I find the entire fandom revolves around the two of them when there are lots more characters I love. I have issues with aspects of their relationship in Crystal Storm. But I understand them a lot better now.
At the very least, I understand them WAY better than Jonas and Cleo who are a pretty good brotp once they give up on whatever they’re doing in Rebel Springs.
FIVE MORE DAYS UNTIL IMMORTAL REIGN
Frozen Tides week in our countdown and I just want to say, this one is my favorite book in the series. As much as I love all the romance and political drama in Gathering Darkness (the beginning of all Magneo, Ashicolo, and Josandra???), Frozen Tides is where it began to seem like the search for the Kindred was a real threat. Frozen Tides is the beginning of the end, a time in which they can no longer turn back and when it becomes clear there is a larger demon than what everyone thought they’d face even as Amara and Gaius continue on their search for power. There was so much happening, there was so never a time in which we didn’t have anything to discuss or create theories over.
Sorry it took me so long but I finally got around to reading Gathering Darkness and what I love most about this book is the way characters begin to develop. Nic begins his own plot outside of his love for Cleo, Magnus disobeys his father for Cleo and Cleo begins to shed her hatred of the Damora’s as she finds Lucia and Magnus are not what she expects, Jonas begins to work towards an actual goal, and Lucia has to learn her own abilities and find her own adventure. Also, it begins to include the Cortas siblings, my two favorite villain/allies, which is an adventure in of itself.
