MY K-POP WIRE at live: IRENE Reconnects with Singapore Through a Night of Poise and Sincere Promises
IRENE of Red Velvet made a graceful return to Singapore on 4 July for 2026 IRENE ASIA TOUR [I-WILL] in SINGAPORE, held at The Theatre at Mediacorp and organised by FriedRice Entertainment. Coincidentally taking place exactly one year after her previous visit alongside Seulgi, the evening carried an added sense of nostalgia as Singaporean Yongssik welcomed her back with unwavering enthusiasm. Blending refined performances with sincere conversations, IRENE transformed the night into an intimate celebration of the bond she shares with her fans.
Opening with "Like A Flower," "Best Believe," and "MTV (My Timeless Video)," IRENE immediately established the sophisticated atmosphere that defined the concert. Her elegant stage presence and expressive vocals effortlessly commanded the audience's attention, while the carefully curated setlist highlighted the many facets of her artistry as a solo performer.
Between performances, IRENE's candid conversations brought a warm and personal touch to the evening. She spoke about her refreshed look, sharing that it had been quite some time since she last had black hair with bangs. While she admitted she was enjoying the hairstyle, she also hinted that a new colour could be on the way for summer. Fans were equally thrilled when she casually revealed that Red Velvet is preparing for a comeback, drawing loud cheers throughout the theatre.
One of the night's standout performances came with "Calling Me Back," where Singaporean fans witnessed the song's intricate chair choreography live for the very first time. The performance showcased IRENE's precision and confidence, further highlighting her growth as a solo artist.
Away from the stage, IRENE delighted fans by talking about her latest food adventures in Singapore. She revealed that she had finally tried both durian and jackfruit, admitting that although the aroma initially caught her off guard, she genuinely enjoyed their flavours. Continuing her tradition of eating chilli crab whenever she visits the city, she also asked fans for more local recommendations, with kaya toast, laksa, and bak kut teh quickly becoming popular suggestions from the audience.
The atmosphere grew even more heartfelt during the latter half of the concert as IRENE reflected on the incredible energy of Singaporean Yongssik. She shared her surprise that "Ka-Ching!" continues to be one of the crowd's favourite songs wherever she performs and thanked fans for their passionate fanchants, saying they gave her tremendous strength throughout the show. Adding another exciting surprise, IRENE revealed that Red Velvet's new official lightstick is currently in production and will feature a special hook designed for the members' representative character plushies.
As the main set came to an end, the theatre quickly filled with chants of "IRENE" and "Bae Joohyun." Touched by the overwhelming response, IRENE returned for the encore sooner than expected, joking that the audience's loud cheers made her want to come back immediately. Spotting front-row fans covered in heart-shaped blue confetti, she playfully pointed out one male fan who remained completely covered throughout the performance before sweetly suggesting that those seated near the stage collect some confetti to share with fans on the upper levels.
Before saying goodbye, IRENE spoke about her upcoming activities and expressed her own disappointment that Red Velvet FAN-CON <A Day in Red & Velvet> is currently scheduled only for Korea. While she hoped to meet international fans again soon, she also encouraged everyone to continue supporting all five members together, drawing an emotional response from the audience.
Closing the night with vibrant performances of "Attaboy," "Red Dress," "Rookie," and "Russian Roulette," before slowing things down with "Winter Wish" and "Start Line," IRENE left Singapore with a heartfelt promise to meet her fans again. As she prepares to return to Korea to rejoin her members, the 2026 IRENE ASIA TOUR [I-WILL] in Singapore stands as a reminder of her grace and the deep-rooted connection she maintains with her fans. More than just a showcase of solo artistry it was a celebration of a relationship that has remained steadfast over the years proving that the bond between Irene and her Yongssik remains beautifully unchanged.
