chapter : book i, chapter i location : the rooftop garden tagging : @kenopsiya
tommy doesn’t usually frequent the garden; the familiar sights he can see over the edge making the strangeness within the house seem more uncomfortable by contrast. inside, it’s another world, but when the lines blur too much, that’s when it impacts him the most. however, the darkness —— despite the creature of nightlife that he is… was? —— was beginning to make the interior of the raven house feel too tight, like something was closing in on him. that’s why he drove before this, that’s why he wandered the halls now, finding a little bit of escape in the motion, and it is for that reason he climbs the access stairs to the rooftop to enter into the light.
‘ ah, shit, ’ he says as soon as he opens the door, hand flinging up to cover his stinging eyes. the daylight was bright compared to the interior of the house. he lingers in the doorway, fingers splaying slightly trying to let some light in, but not enough to shock the system again, a gradual adjustment. he blinks, and then he’s able to see again. what he sees is that he’s not alone. ‘ ah, shit, ’ he repeats again, realizing that there was a witness to all of this, ‘ sorry, dude. didn’t know anyone was up here. ’ then he realizes who it is, ‘ oh ! hey ! it’s you. ’
