UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova visits Penn

IEDPers were honored to be one of the hosts to welcome UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova to Penn on Tuesday.

In her talk, Mrs DG covered issues on culture, peace, sustainable development, women, leadership, etc. Professor Dan Wagner gave the opening remarks. Click here to watch video of the talk.

IEDPers were fortunate (and privileged) to have conversations with Mrs DG before her talk. She seemed to have enjoyed them as much as we did!

Mrs DG was happy to learn that a few of us will be interning for UNESCO offices at different corners of the world in the summer. 

We wish her all the best in her candidacy for the UN Secretary-General!

Madame Irina Bokova vient de se faire réélire par le conseil exécutif en tant que Directrice Générale de l’Organisation des Nations Unies pour l’Education, la Science et la Culture. La cérémonie d’installation aura lieu ce lundi 18 Novembre à 17h30 au siège de L’UNESCO à Paris. Lors de son investiture officielle, Mme Irina Bokova a souhaité la présence de l'artiste Nicole Slack Jones, Lady of Soul & Jazz de la Nouvelle Orléans, qui interprètera "What A Wonderful World" de Louis Armstrong.
