Caught a spirit on film 👻🦐
This is my ghost shrimp, Concrete Proof of the Supernatural! He decided to stop being antisocial and pose for the camera today.
This is my new boy Merlin; he's very pretty and also very unsure about how to feel regarding his new shrimp roommates.

Meet the newest edition to my freshwater aquarium: Achilles the cherry shrimp 🦐
He's so cute, he reminds me of how manatees look when they eat!
Everyone meet Grenade Launcher, my new mystery snail!
Day 4 of cycling my new freshwater tank... ladies and gentlemen we finally have 0ppm of measurable ammonia levels!!!!
The nitrite levels are still high, so I still probably have quite a while before those drop as well. Obviously after that, I need to test that it can cycle in 24 hours before adding any animals, but I'm still so excited!!! Progress!!!
I started the tank with some liquid bacteria from the store, and some shrimp wafers that I allowed to decompose. Hopefully this will be enough of a jumpstart that it only takes a few weeks to cycle instead of a few days.
I just got a new aquarium, and I'm so excited!!!
It's a 14-gallon freshwater live planted tank. I just set it up yesterday, so I've got a while before it finishes cycling.
I'm planning on adding cherry shrimp, possibly a few ghost shrimp, a snail, a small school of neon tetras, and a betta fish.
I thought it would be fun to document the progress here! (If anyone wants to avoid the inevitable onslaught of posts I make about water changes/bacteria/etc. feel free to block the tag #iris aquatic)
