A little more stuff about the Iris and Jamil timeline.
Chapter 2, she marks the Scarabia duo as weird when Jamil interrupts as Kalim almost spills about Snake Whisper. Remembers them both bc they're the dorm leader and vice dorm leader. Marks Jamil as petty when Savanaclaw is confirmed to be allowed to compete in the tournament, but so is everybody else. Trait isn't unusual but mentally noted.
Chapter 4, she's suspicious immediately. She would not have agreed to go to Scarabia for their weird situation, but she did. Especially with the experience on Ruggie being able to move people against his will, she thinks Jamil has something to do with it.
Iris pushes a lot more than Yuu does in the game. Asks about what Kalim is usually like, if it's possible he's sick, if they've gotten a doctor in. If there's any chance that he's being slipped a substance- "Ah, no. You seem pretty aware of everything he consumes. The only one that would be able to manipulate him that way would be you. So I guess that option is off the table." Basically trying to find a solution rather than believing it's Kalim's fault. Not because she believes Kalim is a good person, but because she personally finds Jamil suspicious.
She's kinda a broken record when they end up helped by Octivinelle lmao. "It's Jamil." "There must be a student with mind controlling magic-" "Jamil Viper." "Jade can use his to get the answer out of Kalim-" " The answer that it's Jamil Viper-"
Iris also definitely punches a few students on the way out, but that's not what the focus is.
She lets Azul have his little dramatic reveal. Again, it is not important, but she takes Kalim's staff from him when they're surrounded by the mob students and just starts hitting people with it. It's a long metal stick, and she's otherwise defenseless. She isn't sorry.
Post Overblot, she kicks Jamil in the ribs before he gets up. Desert marches, being held against her will, being yelled at for no reason...get fucked, you can get kicked once.
Still, she's helping with all the party cleanup she's around for. For the rest of break, they get invited over a lot. Of course she helps every time, she isn't an animal. They don't talk unless it's necessary. The other students don't love it, it's a very tense 'stfu do not even open your mouth' vibe.
The tension turns from mild dislike into just spiteful banter over the rest of break.
Oh gosh, the VDC. I've always headcanoned Ramshackle to be atrocious to live in. Not just dusty, but falling apart. Weak floorboards, mold, rusted and old pipes, etc.
Until that point, Jamil just thought Iris had an attitude. The stay at Ramshackle kind of rationalizes her behavior for him and makes him less susceptible to genuinely being annoyed at them.
"Welcome to my dorm. Careful going up the stairs, this one breaks if you step in the middle of it. The railing isn't strong enough to support human weight. During the night, the electricity usually goes out for a few hours. So this is the ice chest I use to try and keep things cold. There's no hot water, so if you need it, bribe Grim to blow some fire on the exposed pipes while you're showering. Sometimes the stove works, sometimes it doesn't. If it rains and your room leaks, let me know. Sometimes, Sam hooks me up with spare wood or something to try and patch it. That's everything off the top of my head, but I'm sure there's more-"

This is also where the cast sees how malnourished Iris really is. Both from her sleep clothes not hiding her figure as much as the uniform does, and seeing how little food is in the dorm.
Out of habit, he does most of the household chores that involve him and Kalim. Kind of mirroring what she does at his dorm, and also keeping them both in the same areas while she's doing it for her and Grim...and Ace and Deuce. She's a caretaker at heart for her people.
