at first (stated by some people) i’m seen as being rather mean as i tend to stick to myself and my close circle of friends but once you get to know me, i’m really nice and will offer advice, i’m someone who can talk to you. i’m the go with the flow type of person and i love love love animals, books, writing, pastel colors especially pastel blue, the ocean and i can be quite the hopeless romantic ( call me lara jean, i’m literally her ).

vi, my girl, you remind me of iris huang from foolish hearts!
iris huang isn’t very well-liked by her peers, and it’s mostly because they assume she’s mean, unapproachable, and intimidating. when deep down, iris isn’t always trying to be aloof, distant, and mean-spirited. she’s been so jaded by people disliking her or using her for their advantage instead of them just genuinely wanting to spend time with her, that she’s adopted that surly personality (most likely as a defense mechanism of sorts).
similarly to you, iris tends to stick with her close group of friends or sticks with herself. again, due to her personality, she doesn’t really have very many friends. many of the people she hung out with at the beginning of the book only tolerated her because she was dating paige, her then-girlfriend. the friends she keeps at the end of the book, however, are the genuine ones (i.e. claudia, gideon, paige). they stuck around even despite iris’s prickly exterior and sharp edges. they helped coax her out of her shell and ultimately become a better person because of it.
once claudia, iris’s best friend, got to know her, claudia realized just how kind and dedicated iris could be as a friend. although iris struggles with dealing with and facilitating emotions (not just hers, but everybody else’s as well) she tries her hardest to actually give advice and provide comfort for claudia when needed.
iris constantly went out of her way to provide a space where claudia could talk about what she was struggling with and she would listen accordingly. she cares so much and so deeply for claudia, that she’s willing to go outside her comfort zone just to be there for her.
although it wasn’t outright stated in the book, iris did have some hopelessly romantic tendencies. without getting into too many spoilers, i feel the fact that she told her ex-girlfriend, paige, that she loved her first, and her constant hope that her and paige’s relationship would start up again (despite trying hard to make her actions show something different) both speak a little bit about those qualities.
much like iris, i get the impression that you are really and truly passionate about the things you love (i.e. animals, books, pastel colors, the ocean). iris is a fan of a boyband called TION. she’s solely dedicated to that passion she has for them. when iris loves something (whether it be a band or a person) she loves that thing with her whole entire heart. she will go all out in her affection and her passion and i feel you two share that bright, fiery quality.
