plot based on this post - iris offered { your muse } money to marry her, but they have to keep the charade going for awhile.
more open starters here.
marrying them had been one of the smartest and dumbest moves she’d ever made; she didn’t exactly regret it, but keeping up the charade had come with few perks that would actually keep her interested.
save for one, of course.
“does the fact that i’ve paid you to stay with me make you a prostitute?” she hummed, her satin robe loose around her body as she crawled next to them in bed. “like, my own personal whore? because i can definitely see the appeal of keeping you, if that’s the case,” she teased lightly, fingers tracing their jaw as she grinned.

There was something ethereal about spending the 4th of July with her best friends on a beach in Massachusetts. The main roads were crowded with tourists - which, technically, they were - but Mav had given them the keys to his home on the shore, and they had taken it over with no questions asked. They’d spent the past year locked up in Vermont, poking at one anothers nerves and weaknesses, learning each others bodies, and they all needed an escape. An out.
A beer in hand, Iris spent most of her day at the beach - she and Ivy could have disappeared to Greece, or Cabo, but they’d chosen to stay with their classmates instead. Which meant she’d have tan lines when they left, a distinct discoloration between where her bikini had laid and where the sun had touched her, but Iris couldn’t really find it in herself to care. She felt carefree, for once - almost lazy. She’d allowed herself to be roped into the ridiculous game of volleyball, made a few s’mores on the bonfire the guys had put together, but mostly she just laid down directly in the sand, letting it coat her as if it was a second skin.
She was supposed to be sharing a room with Lennon and Ellis - there hadn’t been enough space for all of them to have their own rooms, after all - but Iris wasn’t one to sleep away her weekend getaway, and if the opportunity presented itself to sneak off with a partner, who was she to say ‘no’?
By the time she crawled into a bed, she was too far gone - booze, weed, whatever else was coursing through her system - to even register who she was curled up against. All she wanted was a warm body to wrap herself around, and if the hair wasn’t the red blaze she was used to from Lennon, all she did was assume the girl had finally found herself some better company for the night.
It was a shriek that came from outside that awoke her Sunday morning; dizzy and nauseous, she tripped over her own feet trying to find the source. Her sister’s hand found hers - second nature, the two of them interwoven in every action they made - before they stumbled out onto the deck, seeing the crowd of people surrounding a body on the sandy beach.
Red hair. Vibrant, even in the bright morning sunshine. Pale skin, always slathered in sunscreen so her skin wouldn’t turn the color of her hair. Eyes open, freakishly staring in their direction.
“I’m gonna throw up,” was all Iris could mutter, even as her feet moved her forward.
The word flashed in her mind before she even saw the body: murder. It was evident in the shaking cries of her peers, in the way blue eyes stared deep into Iris, in the blue tint of her skin.
Her sight seemed to dim, briefly, Ivy’s hand keeping her steady as Iris fought off the urge to do just as she said; the only thing she could focus on was the blue eyes staring up at her. Accusatory. Angry.
Lennon was dead. And Iris had no idea who could have done it.
anything else.
dynamic headcanons ;
iris & ivy ; aesthetic / intro post HERE. though the younger of the two, iris feels very protective of ivy and would do anything for her sister.
iris & wes ; iris has a hard time believing in ‘love’ by typical standards, but wesley is the closest thing she’s ever come to. despite forcing him to keep their affair quiet and refusing to remain faithful to him, he’s one of the few iris genuinely ‘trusts’ - as much as she does anyone.
iris & reese ; ideally, i’d love for their hateship to include hate sex every so often when things bubble over between them, that they then ignore the rest of the time, but can obviously be discussed with the reese player !!!
iris & charles ; because of his ( obvious to iris ) interest in ivy, iris does not trust charles as far as she can throw him. while she wants ivy to be happy, she doesn’t trust that anyone is ever good enough for her and thwartes any attempts charles may ever make because of this.
general headcanons ;
- iris is very much the ‘decadent spoiled rich girl’.
- she likes to think of herself as a chameleon, however, and eases into whatever role people want to think of her as.
- while she’s never been linked to any specific crimes, violent events tend to happen around iris. she’s managed to escape unscathed from any potential rumors of bad behavior her whole life.
- her mother and her have a very toxic relationship; she’s very much daddys little girl. however, her father moved to london after the divorce, and the forced separation only strained her relationship with both parents. now, her step father and step brother are the only real family outside of ivy that she bothers to speak to.

❝ oh now i do recall, we were just getting to the part

iris lexington has been one half of a whole since her conception. born less than fifteen minutes after her sister ivy, she’s been chasing after her ever since. the two grew up in luxury - much more than even their peers. exotic vacations, hollywood premiers, art gallery openings - they had everything handed to them from the second they were born, with the anonymity that was allowed for them living behind the scenes.
it had been ivy’s wish to go to boarding school, but where ivy went so did iris. though she missed the glitz and glamour of the spotlight afforded to them in new york, the quiet allowed iris to discover what she was truly best at - sniffing out the worst in people, and exposing them for the heinous acts they were truly capable of.
it started with a girl their freshman year; an accident, surely, but the death hadn’t been reported and when iris told their headmaster that a peer had been the responsible one for the murder, she was awarded while the other girl disappeared, taken home and justice never served. but from there, the ability to spy and extort became even easier - she was destroying the lives of her teachers, her peers, even their own parents. it was iris who discovered the affair, and when their father left, the already tense relationship between their mother and iris became more strained.
the only good to come out of it was a new sibling; an older step brother, who was just as interested in pushing the limits as iris was. it was him who got her hooked on investigative reporting; together, they’d watch cheesy crime documentaries, or read books and share them with the other. while he was already studying journalism at nyu, iris set her sights higher: columbia was, at the very least, an ivy league, and four years there was supposed to be enough to remind her why she loved new york. but as her college graduation came, so did a plane ticket to europe from her father, and for the first time in her life, iris set off to venture in the world without ivy - eleven months of adventure, but missing the one person she needed above all.
fulton university was agreed upon the second iris arrived back in manhattan; a quiet school just close enough to a major city that the girls could have the best of both worlds they were used to. there, iris could study to become an investigative reporter, expanding her world beyond the written word and managing to have everything she really wanted: power, and above all - attention.
i sure hope you didn’t expect to get all of the attention
let’s not get selfish
did you really think i’d let you kill this chous? ❞
iris & wesley klein ↭ it started off at halloween. iris wasn’t immune to her own sexuality, and the way that the world revolved around her - in fact, it had come in handy many, many times before. but she was also completely aware that lennon was completely in love with wesley, and she wasn’t dumb enough to burn a bridge she may need in the future. while it’s not exactly a well kept secret, their affair has managed to last for almost ten months - and while they’re both technically ‘free agents’, able to sleep with whomever else they may have a desire to, iris thinks of wesley as hers and hers alone, and she’s willing to fight to keep him there if she has to.
iris & reese lewis ↭ iris has a very low tolerance for those who she perceive as ‘fake’, and from day one that’s all she’s been able to see reese as. when it’s his time to be critiqued in group efforts, she tears him to shreds, and on more than one occasion their peers have asked her to be ‘nicer’ to reese. the simple fact is that she hates him, and nothing he does ever changes her opinion. it’s a visceral knowledge, deep in her core, with no real explanation - and while he may not purposefully antagonize her, the two have ended up on opposite ends of a fight on more than one occasion.
