Hey guys! How's it going?🙂. . So for this whisky Wednesday I'm doing a comparison. I've been wanting to do this for some time, I just didn't get around to it. So when my friend Dan over at Sifonierul cu whisky sent me this sample I remembered that I cam now do that. . I've tried the regular 12yo Redbreast and liked it, but people kept telling me that the cask strength version is much better, which of course makes total sense 🙂 and wouldn't you know it they were right! 😊 The cask strength version is like a roller coaster compared to the regular 12yo😄. . Irish whiskey lovers must definitely try the Redbreast 12 years Old Cask Strength Edition, an excellent variant of the standard expression. It is bottled at a higher ABV 58.2% (but the alcohol concentration can vary slightly depending on the batch). The winner of the 'Irish Whiskey of the Year' in 2013 at the Irish Whiskey Awards boasts an absolutely superb aromatic profile, largely outlined during maturation in Oloroso sherry barrels. However, the character of this whiskey is not overwhelmed by the notes borrowed from the barrels, thus managing to keep a special balance and elegance. . Nose: Rich notes of biscuit, vanilla, marzipan, coffee, and fresh tones of apple and tropical fruits. . Palate: Captivating aromas of ripe apples with cinnamon, vanilla, oak, juicy pear, and coffee. The complex aromatic palette opens nicely when a drop of water is added. . Finish: Long, fruity, spicy. . Color: Golden amber. .
